A pretty good MG horror about following the rules during Hide and Seek😬

This is a very child friendly book that uses only pictures and no words to tell the story of a runaway walrus, on his attempt to not be captured. This story would allow a great opportunity for children to come up with their own written story lines based upon the pictures that are presented.

The illustrations use various elements of design in order to tell the story. We see the use of both high and low intensity colors throughout the story. We can also see the use of line as dotted and straight lines are presented throughout the story to depict movement as well as mood. The use of form was also present as many illustrations contained 3-D objects that displayed height, width and depth. Many 2-D shapes are also present in the pictures.

The composition of the articles of clothing that the walrus wears to blend in with everyone on each page makes it easy to see why the zookeeper gets confused but obviously, the students will see that it is still a walrus but also understand what the story is trying to tell.

“Where's Walrus“ by Stephen Savage is a wordless book that lets the images speak for themselves. As the walrus escapes the zoo he blends in with different scenes by putting on something that allows him to “blend in“ with the people on each page- the zookeeper never notices until a swim cap falls off the walrus when he dives into the pool.

Though there are no words in the book, the author and illustrator captures the essence of the book through its vibrant colors as it hides Walrus in various settings. This page that was chosen shows the panic the zoo keeper is feeling as he is trying to find the Walrus in the city square. The zoo keeper does not realize that the Walrus is hiding in plain sight as Walrus sits in the water fountain.

This book is well-illustrated and embraces art through the illustrations as there are no words. The fun-loving book displays great art as it captures of the essence of being right in the story through the vibrant colors on the pages.
