Not entirely sure how to review this book as the first half was terrific and the exploration of the unusual relationship between the author‘s parents, her family‘s history and the strong bond between the author and her mother. This part of the story was compelling. However half way through there is a sudden reveal and after that the writing becomes a lot more disjointed and the book becomes quite… whiny? TW: abuse

Awesome find at the library book sale tonight!!
If I can't have the hardcover edition my mother got rid of (I will never not be mad about that), I'm happy to settle for a first Pocket Books printing from November 1979 for only $0.60 😁 Couldn't believe a room full of booksellers scooping up everything in sight passed this by 🤣
At least I can say I‘ve read it?

Guys, what did I just read??? This book frustrated me endlessly because it had a ton of plot holes. It made me super uncomfortable and the ending was a little anticlimactic. But yet I couldn‘t put it down. It caught my attention and made me want to read again. After a four month book slump I‘m grateful for that.

I've been trying to get through this book for years. It sits on my nightstand and every few months I try again.
