A friend wanted to meet up for a (distanced) lunch at an Ethiopian restaurant we both like that has just reopened, and at first I said no, I'm doing a readathon, and then I realized that supporting a Black-owned business > sitting at home and reading, and that I have time for both today. Between work today and some podcast stuff I had to finish tonight, I got very little reading in for the #juneteenthreadathon. I'll do better tomorrow! ( @robinb , I was supposed to have had this finished for you last weekend but I'm just getting to it now! 😔)
Participating in a Juneteenth readathon today, this is part of my stack of potential options (MOOD READERS NEED CHOICE OKAY?). I hope everyone finds a way to mark this day in a way that feels restorative to them. I am trying to honor Black stories, esp. ones featuring Black joy, and support Black businesses.
