I loved that Eva felt so realistic, not flawless. I adored her relationship with her daughter, they had several fun conversations. Cece was a hilarious secondary character.

This was easy to read, pretty light story. Romance was cute.

The last part of the book wasn't as strong as the beginning. There was some unnecessary drama, nothing major, but I personally just hate miscommunication.

For a short #audiobook, it was nice. It read like a #guidedmeditation or a #manifesto. I listened to it while #foraging and walking the dog.

Find your oasis and rest; it is your right. We put our bodies through extremes daily as if it‘s our last chance for freedom, but to rest is sacred.

I ate Horsemint (shown), day flowers, blackberries, and golden chanterelles 🍄‍🟫

It took me a while to get into this. I don‘t think I remembered book 2 very well and it must have bothered me that the main characters were all separated. Once they started to get back together I was more interested and read faster. I really liked some of the new characters in this book. Somehow fairly early on I felt that this was not a concluding volume and went to Deonn‘s website, which led me to her Instagram, which confirmed: 4-book series.

Clare-Dragonfly With that knowledge in mind, I loved the ending. Looking forward to book 4! Maybe this time I‘ll reread the previous books first. 1w

I was SUPER looking forward to this, and thought I was getting a conclusion to a trilogy, so the clearly-not-a-conclusion ending was frustrating. Add to that, this was definitely longer than it should have been and STILL didn‘t feel like it did much (other than a lot of stuff happening in the background but not on the page, and a couple of jaw-dropping revelations at the end). I enjoyed seeing Bree grow into her powers but ⤵️

BarbaraJean (Cont‘d) …generally wanted to shake some sense into her as she repeatedly rushed into situations without thinking. All of THAT said, I still enjoyed it. It‘s just not a 5-star read like its two predecessors. I hope we get more of a consequential plot (and a less impulsive Bree) in the next book!

Annnnd, I read this back in March. One more catch-up review and I‘ll just have a handful of May books to review. 😆

willaful Completely get it. I kept shilly-shallying about whether to finish it and finally decided to leave it half done and maybe finish it before reading the next book. Though if the next isn't the last, I may be *out*. 3w
5feet.of.fury I also thought this was a trilogy until the end 😂😩 3w
BarbaraJean @willaful Totally makes sense! There's so much of the plot in this one that is just kind of pointless. I will read the next one, but I really hope she tightens up the writing and moves things along. @5feet.of.fury I hate it when I'm expecting closure and then as there are fewer and fewer pages left it becomes apparent that I'm not going to get it 😫 3w
willaful @5feet.of.fury Ugh, how frustrating for you! I was buddy reading them in a romance discord and we ALL thought that. 😫 Apparently she decided to make it longer somewhere along the way. 3w

On Tuesday I facilitated a discussion on this for the Keuka Compass LGBTQ+ Book Club. We had a vibrant conversation about whitewashing, trans and queer misogyny, policing and prisons, and activism. While I still get anxious after events like this from the crash post-socializing, my community groups have been a lifeline recently in addition to powerful books like this one. #stonewall #lgbtqia+ #solidarity
