I‘ve been on a bit of a kick the last week or so. When I think of Amish mysteries, somehow this is not what I expected. These mysteries are some of the goriest books I‘ve read in a while! However, I obviously must be enjoying them- it‘s like I can‘t look away. I love them! Think I am ready for a brief break though; time for another direction.

Today I seem to have had the attention span of a fly, so I read this group of short mysteries in the Kate Burkholder series. The stories were great- complete little mysteries. The audiobook- not so much. When the reader portrays any of the Amish young women they all have this voice that makes them sound about four years old. I love this series, although there are a LOT of murders in this very small town. 😊

2nd book in Kate Burkholder Series by Linda Castillo. Enjoying this series. Such good character development.

It's always a pleasure to return to Kate Burkholder's world, and while the 16th installment had some plot twists that stretched believability a bit, it was still enjoyable. Love the characters in this series. Kate is gritty and tough without being obnoxious (actually, she kind of reminds me of Eve Dallas of the In Death series) and Castillo always writes the Amish as real people. It's also always fun to read books set in Ohio and actually know ⬇

I have read some of this series, and not others, so I decided I would start with the 1st one in the Kate Burkholder Series and read them all in order. This way, I figure I will not skip one.

Another solid Pick! Katie is flawed but with an eerie sense of timing and human nature that helps her do the right thing- she is a complete bad-a$$ and a role model for young Amish women. Being a former Amish and speaking their dialect doesn‘t hurt either

I am loving these Amish mysteries so much. This one too is twisty and riveting. Chief of Police Kate Burkholder grew up Amish and she‘s a perfect fit for keeping the peace in Painters Mill, an Amish community in Ohio
