pickThis novella was SO scandalous. A short tidbit written in epolistary form, the letters sent between all the central characters belied the scandalous actions taken throughout. The talent Austen shows in writing a 35 year old widowed woman so well when she was a teenager is a testament to her talent as a novelist. This was such a good read, I almost wished it was longer!

Lady Susan is a real schemey, awful piece of work. I can't help but think strong, educated, feminist Lisa from The Simpson's would be giving her the stank eye for her treatment of her daughter. Like she's a piece meat to auction to the highest bidder!

pickJane Austen managed to write a delightful little novella with a morally reprehensible woman as the title character! I loved this and I‘m so glad I finally read it. Now I really want to see Love & Friendship, the Amazon adaptation!

pickI couldn‘t even manage to stretch this little book out for the 10 days on Serial... I was reading ahead.
Such a witty, sarcastic, FUN epistolary, starring some of the bitchiest, deliciously nasty lady villains I‘ve read in a while — Lady Susan and Mrs. Johnson are some seriously devious, shallow chicks. 😂
Jane Austen wrote this when she was 18, and I wish she had turned it in to a whole novel. Loved it!
