This book was a bit of a mixed bag for me. The plot is good and the dog bits are cute, but the writing is poor and there‘s an undercurrent of misogyny in the book that I can never get behind. I wouldn‘t be interested in reading this author again.

The plot focused on Truly doing one woman Parent Trap in a way that activated my second-hand embarrassment. I can appreciate a good crisis; it just had her coming off immature. I enjoyed the stuff with Colin‘s family- or more seeing Colin and Truly as a team within that context—as a balance to this.

These required I get out of my very much older head to inhabit my inner middle-grade self, then yeah, these are fun. I grew up with absolutely no reference to the legal system.
