Interesting mix of Carmilla + Chinese folklore that left me wishing for a bit more detail on how the two connect. It seems weird to call it Carmilla when she apparently dies in the first book, so I wonder how final that was, but... I'm not sure I'll keep reading.

shanaqui If anyone's interested in joining in with #ComicsBingo, here's a link to my first post about it: https://www.litsy.com/web/post/2911726

And if anyone's looking for a suitable comic for #HauntedShelf, this'd work! It's a fun combo of classic lit and folklore, and perfect for the spooky season.

This book has all the ups and downs. It‘s amazing how much story and emotion Bechdel can fit into this strict format. The political arguments are especially funny and depressing to me—we‘ve been having the same conversations over and over again and not getting much of anywhere. So some parts felt absolutely timeless. While others, such as Mo trying to get Sydney off the internet so she can use the phone, are delightfully dated.

Clare-Dragonfly Also, perhaps odd to focus on one of the few male characters in a book mostly about lesbians, but: could Stuart BE any more my type 😍 4mo

Or maybe they were too busy crying over the ending! (I‘m surprised to see Mo reading a work of classic literature that isn‘t queer.) #hashtagbrigade

I keep telling myself that I‘m going to limit the number of books I take out of the library so I can read the ones I already own. Then I go in to pick up a hold (in this case, the tagged book) and they have all these tempting displays… #libraryhaul

BarbaraJean SAME. Sometimes I have my husband take my card and pick up my holds for me so I don't linger at the New Books shelf and come home with extras! 5mo

This audiobook adaptation of the early DTWOF comics is perfect, except that it's only available from Audible aka evil Amazon. Mo would NOT approve! That said, I'm glad their money went to a bunch of excellent queer actors (Jane Lynch! Carrie Brownstein! Roberta Colindrez! Roxane Gay!) who did such a great job bringing these 1980s sapphists to life. A great piece of lesbian herstory and a hilarious, politically smart, and heartfelt story. No notes.

Andrea313 Thanks for the recommendation! I love all of those artists, but Roberta is a favorite, and criminally underrated. 6mo
CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian @Andrea313 Agreed! She is long overdue as the main character in a TV show! I loved her on A League of Their Own. 6mo

Remnants of the earlier seasons of Shameless and “The Night Always Comes.” It was engaging, but the third person POV felt like I was just watching Emily's story from afar, instead of being in her head. Dark, disappointing, and strange.

Forgive me for the blurry pic of Montie Sunshine, but the pet sitter sent me that. The tree is really where he sleeps. We might set it up somewhere else next year.
The book is about as sweet as this dog. Some difficulty with grief and animal cruelty, but in true Leslie Connor fashion, the book will leave you better.
