I‘d just like to take a moment to share a lil‘ picture I took of a small misprint in this morning‘s liturgy at my church 😆

I‘m sure it was completely unintentional; our admin likely copy/pasted the first Sunday of Lent liturgy from last year and didn‘t notice there were adjustments needed, but still. It made me chuckle.

marleed Oh, I bet that made some MAGA folks irritable. 3w
Lcsmcat How I wish! 3w
BarbaraJean @marleed The MAGA folks are few and far between at our church! The music director, who was leading this section, just skipped the names, which was probably the best way to handle it. @Lcsmcat I know, right? My husband commented “I'd rather pray for Biden anyway.“ 😆 Although for my own mental and spiritual health, I need to pray for both... 3w

Lcsmcat @BarbaraJean We quit naming him during Trump 1, just pray for the “leaders of the nation and the world.” 3w
BarbaraJean @Lcsmcat We tend to fluctuate back and forth between using specific names and using the more general “leaders“ language. I have a hard time with hearing his name, especially in prayer. Even more so when I'm on the schedule to lead the Prayers of the People! The specific name is difficult for me, but it also helps me exercise the muscle of compassion, which I need so deeply—especially right now. 3w
Lcsmcat @BarbaraJean Yes, we all need to exercise those right now! But that doesn‘t make it easy. I‘m reading Bishop Budde‘s book right now. 3w
BarbaraJean @Lcsmcat It's needed but SO hard. I need to add her book to my TBR. Maybe by the time I clear some reading space in my schedule, there will be some library copies available!! 3w

BarbaraJean @mcctrish I know, right? 3w
marleed @BarbaraJean That makes me happy! My fear is that so many places of worship have given way to Christian Nationalism that it‘s become harder for those believing in the separation of church and state to find comfort there. 3w
BarbaraJean @marleed The Christian Nationalism that is creeping into so many Christian spaces is heartbreaking to me (and is one of the reasons I don't regret leaving the evangelical spaces I was previously part of). I'm glad to be a member of an Episcopal church that is progressive in its theology and encourages people to THINK for themselves instead of telling them what to think. 3w
marleed @BarbaraJean 💕💕 3w

I absolutely loved this book. As someone who has been in the church, my whole life and gained much from it, I love the idea of slowing down and getting back to what really matters.

A reminder that we are celebrating #Italy all year long with #foodandlit thanks to it being “Jubilee,“ a Holy Year celebrated by the Catholic Church, a year of hope and a time for reflection and forgiveness. Religious or not, every time you read about Italy or eat Italian food, we want you to celebrate it here! Post what you learn about Jubilee, Italy, the Roman Empire, etc! All other planned countries are still going forward.

Texreader We will end the year with a big Italian celebration in December!! Post #foodandlit

Hail all ye #FoodandLit lovers!

This year we are celebrating the "Jubilee" in Italy, a Holy Year celebrated by the Catholic Church, a year of hope and a time for reflection and forgiveness. Religious or not, we want to celebrate Italy all year long! That‘s right! Every time you read about Italy or eat Italian food, we want you to celebrate it here! I‘m going to try to read 1 book and eat at least 1x or 10x Italian food each month. ⬇️

Texreader And feel free to post anything you learn about Jubilee, Italy, the Roman Empire, etc! All our planned countries are still going on so this is just an extra excuse to eat Italian and celebrate all things Italian during this very special Jubilee year. Then we will end the year with a big Italian celebration in December!! Post #foodandlit #Jubilee and tag me and @Catsandbooks (edited) 3mo

kwmg40 I'm all for this idea, especially as there is a chance I might be travelling to Italy in 2025. I've been there once before and so enjoyed the food there! 3mo

This book is a great reminder to look for God in all of our everyday activities.

I surprised myself by highlighting a handful of lines.

Recent acquisitions:

📖 The Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary
📖 Saint Joseph Prayer Book

Raised Mormon, I'm now a religious Humanist with an affinity for pagan nature worship and Catholic æsthetics who regularly attends progressive high church Episcopal mass with my Christian wife, Amy. Yes, it's complicated. The Mary book is in Latin & English 🤍

I wasn‘t sure at first on this book, but the more I read, I started to see a full vision of what could be. I think a lot about the type of home we are creating for my kids-the environment, stretching, encouragement, etc. This book gave some excellent guidelines and ideas to help make our home a place where our kids can thrive!
