#wordoftheday

“Allegorical figures were extremely popular at the time; actors and actresses representing Divine Justice, Holy Religion, and Saintly Sacrifice would declaim onstage and then fly straight up to heaven.”

#Italy #Jubilee #foodandlit @Catsandbooks

Doll8455 My so-called lawyer began to declaim about my sanguinary crime in the court room. The judge listened with a long lugubrious face. Whoa!! This doesn‘t look good for me. I look behind and sure enough there was the sheriff dangling the rope—- 14h

IriDas That last committee reminds me of our local priests who just made the news for demanding the city cancel an upcoming goth festival because they are offended by it. 😂 2d
Dilara 😂 2d
swynn @Dilara I read about that, and wondered whether the priests realized what a valuable advertisement they'd just made for the festival. For absolutely free. 2d

Dilara @swynn I think your comment was meant for @IriDas 😁 but yes, I agree! The same thing happened in my neck of the wood with Hellfest, the metal festival in Clisson. They even walked around the festival perimeter, praying and sprinkling holy water. It didn't stop the festival, but it did ensure it made the news, which it wouldn't have done otherwise 😉 2d
IriDas @swynn @dilara True. I had totally forgotten it existed (this is only the second year) and if I hadn‘t seen someone talking about the controversy on a rather large YouTube channel, it wouldn‘t never have hit my radar. Think of all the people coming to town for it now. 2d
Texreader @swynn @Dilara @IriDas I love all that free publicity! (edited) 1d

PERFETTO!!!

An Italian-American woman decides, after several life-altering events, to leave Lake Como, NJ, to work in her ancestors' land of Carrera, Italy.

I enjoyed everything about this book. Learning about the marble mining industry and how it was the same mine that Michelangelo chose his marble. Gilting. Love your crazy family. Villages.

I plan to buy Lottery ticketsto hopefully get enough money to visit Italy. That is how impressed I am

Butterfinger #FoodandLit #Italy #Jubilee @Texreader @@catsandbooks I'm going to buy this book or steal it from the library 🤔 LOL!!!! 4mo

Daughters of Rome | Kate Quinn

Pickpick

Kate Quinn is becoming one of my all-time favorite historical fiction novelists. This one is about 4 cousins who try to stay out of the men fighting for their chance to be the next Caesar. Although they do realize they have to fight in their own unique way to save those they love. #Italy #Jubilee #FoodandLit #letterq #AtoZLitsy @Texreader @Catsandbooks

Texreader I‘ve really enjoyed her books too!! 5mo

It answered my questions about Italy's state politics and why Martin Luther was adamant about breaking away from the depravity of the church. Lucretia was not written as part of the evil; she was a tool to further her father's powers. It was Cesare who was the ruthless murderer. #Jubilee #FoodandLit @texreader @catsandbooks
