My parents stuffed 8 of us in a station wagon for a trip to Gettysburg National Military Park,Hershey, & Amish country. Beautiful weather, picnics, fascinating tours, chocolate bars! 🍫🍫 wonderful memories. Decades later,my husband & son visited Gettysburg, stayed in town a few days & soaked in history. Hence the mug. ☕️📚

LeahBergen I want to visit Gettysburg one day. 😊 3y

Going to Florida sunshine today as it is 1 degree outside.Florida is full of memories. My husband was wrenched from Detroit into steamy Tampa at 12.Still separate(but never equal)entrances to public places. My first trip to FL was with him.We toured the state in subsequent visits with our son;his brother died there in a car accident;Christmas visits meant ocean swims. His family is still there.Hope to go…

In 2016 we jumped in our car for a scenic ride to Stockbridge, MA. After a tour of the Norman Rockwell Museum & its grounds, we ate a scrumptious lunch in the outdoor Courtyard of The Red Lion Inn, an Historic Landmark. When perusing through town we discovered the once Back Room restaurant that was memorialized by Arlo Guthrie‘s iconic song, “Alice‘s Restaurant.” That‘s me pictured in front of the building on Alice St.

We loved Acadia National Park so that we spent 2 summers there for 2 weeks. It‘s beauty was raw & startling, with huge boulder‘s to climb on.Got splashed at Thunder Hole.Hiked, walked the streets of Bar Harbor.Ate breakfast at 2 Cats, whose name I loved, had lobster rolls by the sea.We hiked 6 miles on the wide bike paths along side the lush foliage to enjoy popovers at Jordan Pond House.I would love to return to it‘s beauty.

Librarybelle My favorite National Park is Acadia! So beautiful! 3y
merelybookish Lovely! I have never been to Acadia which seems shameful since I've spent lots of time in Maine. 3y

Whenever I visit Harwich on the Cape, coffee at the Snowy Owl & a book or two from the Owl‘s next door neighbor, Brewster Book Store is THE ritual. So many memories of a multitude of coffee klatch‘s with my sibs & books we purchased. After all, we must support indie bookstores & coffee shops! The next generation of adults also participates. 📚💜☕️

Amiable I love every single thing about this post. Every word. 🥰 3y

While not a mug, this tea cup is reminiscent of my mother. So many mornings drinking coffee together. Sometimes tea in the afternoon. Sometimes just us; sometimes with others. Times of conversation, times of quiet. Times of laughter; times of tears. Thousands of memories in just one cup.

The kitties just had to join in.

Mollyanna I love everything about this post! 🥰 3y
AmyG I love your cats joining you. I so miss having a cat. 3y

The summer after my son‘s first grade year, my husband planned a “surprise” trip for us. He knew my love of ferries, so we took plenty of time, going from ferry to ferry down the eastern seaboard. On the way, we stopped & toured this lighthouse. Unforgettable memories.

This mug is from FDR‘s Library and Museum in Hyde Park NY. During a visit of several days, we toured the Library, his home,Springwood, Eleanor Roosevelt‘s retreat,Val-Kill, & the Vanderbilt Mansion. We also ate a few fabulous meals at the nearby Culinary Institute.
I am so enjoying this #mugtour because it is evoking such wonderful, warm memories.

Amiable My husband and I visited Hyde Park and Val-Kill a few summers ago —it is such a lovely place! (edited) 3y
Cpg If you get “down south” visit the Little Whitehouse in Warm Springs, GA (or Ala I think GA) for more FDR history. It‘s by Calloway Gardens- Pine Mountain, GA. 3y
Cpg Sounds like a fabulous tour you were on- I‘ve always wanted to visit the Biltmore! 3y

I spent 2 days a week a few summers ago in
Willimantic CT, about 45 min.from my house. While my son worked in a local museum, I read in this welcoming coffee shop, walked the streets,(including the infamous (“Frog Bridge”)& visited the library & farmer‘s market & generally enjoyed myself. This town has so much to offer- totally changed my inherited stereotypical idea of what the town & its people were like.

BookNAround I lived in the old armory building in Willimantic my first year of grad school at UConn! Such a small, world. 😁 3y
kspenmoll @BookNAround Trying to picture the building. Want to look it up- I must have walked by it! 3y
Amiable I worked at Eastern for 7 years —spent a lot of time in Willimantic! Drove over the Frog Bridge every day. 😀 Another fun fact: Wally Lamb used to have an office space in downtown, and I would sometimes run into him at the gas station near campus. (edited) 3y

The Raven Used Books mug means a trip to Northampton, MA, which we did pre Covid 2 or more times a year. Lots of different bookstores in town, & if we want a drive we can hit South Hadley & Amherst for their bookstores!

Ruthiella I‘m really enjoying your tour via mugs! 😃 3y
Pogue Is the pizza place that makes garlic pizza still in Amherst? I loved that pizza when I lived in MA 3y
Librarybelle What a cozy looking scene! 3y
