What a wonderful story! It was beautifully written absolutely captivating from the start. This book tells the life story of a unique, special individual from the perspective of others who he encounters throughout his life. It is part fairytale, part love story, part adventure. This one is in my top 5 favorite books I‘ve read all year. 📸US Botanic Garden, Nov 2019 #recommendsday #nature #magical #wolf #botm #ruthemmielong #nonlinearnarrative

JudeCC Thanks for sharing this! I have that book on my shelves, and now I can't wait to add it to my TBR for the 2020 reading challenge. 😃 5y

#firstlines "In the middle of the summer of 1891 the most extraordinary things began happening in a small Norwegian coastal town. A stranger by the name of Nagel appeared, a singular character who shook the town by his eccentric behavior and then vanished as suddenly as he had come." #somethingforsept #septphotochallenge #faveclassics #nonlinearnarrative

LeahBergen Speaking of nonlinear narrative... I just, this very moment, finished My Struggle: Book 1. I am completely shattered. 8y
Hobbinol @LeahBergen I hope you give yourself time to rest up before reading the others! Knausgaard is amazing! (The other volumes are somewhat lighter in tone. In the first volume the retrograde timing allows him to introduce future themes. Whereas with Hamsum, the timing feels much more like a lucid dream.) 8y
LeahBergen Yep. I'm going to take a break but I will definitely be picking up book 2. 8y
MrBook Huh. Interesting... 8y
