This #BOTM gem was a fantastic way to kick off 2020! This story pulled every emotion out of me. I rooted so hard for Zelda, a young adult born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, as she navigated typical (and some not-so-typical) trials of early adulthood. I think we could all learn from her perspective of the world. My heart sobbed for her older brother, who took care of her, despite his own life‘s battles and poor choices. Who ultimately saves who?

sharona671 I'm having regrets not adding this to my order for Jan! Gonna have to add in Feb! 1w

Wow, what a complicated and intricate story with absolutely enchanting writing. I am still processing it and probably will be for quite some time. I was completely engrossed from the beginning and was utterly transported to another place and time. It was a love story about stories in general written by someone who deeply understands them. I don‘t think this book is for everyone and it is LONG, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself. #quote #enchanting

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I enjoyed this book and I think it deserves its 2019 accolades. It was a heartwarming story with smart writing and it tackled some tough issues. It was less light-hearted and fluffy than I thought it would be. There was a heavy focus on politics, which was actually a bit boring for me personally. #atx #washingtondc #lgbtq #substanceusedisorder #caseymcquiston #politics #romcom #politicalromcom

Maybe I built up too much hype for this one, but I finished the book feeling disappointed. I found it repetitive and predictable. Over and over, certain characters made the wrong choices and the maji were tricked by the monarchy. For me, the ending felt abrupt and forced. I still enjoyed the book, but just found myself saying, “That‘s it?” at the end. #unpopularopinion #overhyped #disappointed #toniadeyemi #judgeabookbyitscover

Y‘all, is 87 books on my #TBR list too many? I can‘t seem to stop buying more, especially during these holiday sales 🤣🤓 ($1.99 for The Priory of the Orange Tree ebook) 🤷🏻‍♀️

Riveted_Reader_Melissa Nope, my list is way more! 😂 2mo

Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Soubhiville That‘s probably my own and to-read, kindle book sale have really added up over the years. My over all want-to-read, as in everything that looked good and I jotted it down so I could maybe look it up eventually, is like 2,000 😱 But according to the reading calculator I can finish before I‘m 65! 😂 2mo
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Here‘s the link if you‘re curious... https://www.readitforward.com/tbr-time/ 2mo
rethier1 @Riveted_Reader_Melissa That‘s a pretty cool tool! The only problem is that it assumes you will not continue to add more books to the list hehe 2mo
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @rethier1 Exactly, that‘s one tough #BookishDilemma 2mo
TheBookStacker I have hundreds lol so no! 2mo
Curiouser_and_curiouser @Riveted_Reader_Melissa Omg! You're very ambitious! I've just noted about 800 books on my shelf and entered them into an app to store your own book titles, so I guess they would all be TBR's otherwise I wouldn't own them. There are about 150 novels on my kids shelf I'd love to read (or re-read) and there are about 500 listed right here on Litsy as TBR's also, so I'm heating you! 1w
Bookishlie I‘m afraid to total up what‘s on here, what‘s on good reads and what‘s on my shelves.....scary scary thought. At this rate I‘ll live forever if I can‘t die till I get my TBR done..... 1w

An #unpopularopinion, but I didn‘t enjoy this book as much as I thought I was going to. The plot was ripe for some #guiltypleasure #romcom action, but I just found myself bored for the majority of the book. Most of the time, the two main characters would meet on weekends and just do the routine every time. It dragged on for me. I also found the female main character to be obsessively insecure with her looks. The Proposal was much better.

OnlyYoo The communication in this book was just so bad 2mo

What a wonderful story! It was beautifully written absolutely captivating from the start. This book tells the life story of a unique, special individual from the perspective of others who he encounters throughout his life. It is part fairytale, part love story, part adventure. This one is in my top 5 favorite books I‘ve read all year. 📸US Botanic Garden, Nov 2019 #recommendsday #nature #magical #wolf #botm #ruthemmielong #nonlinearnarrative

As someone who has struggled with weight for my whole life, I greatly appreciated this book. This book proves, using evidenced-based research, that traditionally recommended weight loss strategies do not work and WHY. It provides a fairly radical solution. I am a public health professional, so the sound logic, research, and personal experience the author uses is really what sets this book apart for me. Wish me luck on testing out this plan! 💪🏻

rethier1 I recommend this book for anyone who is looking to understand their bodies better and improve their diet - not just those who want to lose weight!! 🤓 (edited) 6mo
flying_monkeys Have you ever read The Metabolic Typing Diet? If so, curious how The Obesity Code compares to the The Metabolic Typing. 5mo
rethier1 @flying_monkeys I have not read that particular book, but I have tried diets based on my metabolism type. I am an endomorph, so those diets aligned pretty well with what The Obesity Code recommends (low carb). However, the Obesity Code focuses less on caloric restriction and more of fasting. I have gotten much better results following the Obesity Code than any other diet, so far. 😁 Fasting seems to be the key for me. 5mo
See All 7 Comments
flying_monkeys Thanks! I may have to give that one a read then. I haven't heard about the fasting approach before. 5mo
rethier1 @flying_monkeys I had never considered fasting before either! This book builds a strong case for why it makes total sense, though. It also isn‘t as hard as I thought it would be haha 5mo
Curiouser_and_curiouser Intermittent fasting works well for me, when I can, I decrease the number of hours available for eating, say between 12pm and 7pm, then fast remainder of the time. I think it's best for short term though. 1w
rethier1 @Curiouser_and_curiouser Agreed - shortening windows of eating, eliminating snacking, and reducing carbs really has been key for me! 5d

I really enjoyed this #botm pick! While many romance novels seem like unrealistic fairytales, this one was written for today‘s reality. It featured a strong female main character and gracefully incorporated some of today‘s most troubling issues, including the #opioidepidemic, the #metoo movement, and #glassceiling. The overall message of the book is the importance and power of #forgiveness, even in the most difficult circumstances.

While I really wanted to like this series, it was really lacking. The story and characters are superficial and are not properly developed. I think it had the potential to be a great #ya series, but just fell way short for me.

Looks like I am the first to review this one! This popped up on my Kindle as an ad. I am a sucker for YA supernatural crap, so I couldn‘t resist 😜 This is the first book in the series. While the premise is interesting and the story is fast-paced, it seemed like it was over way too soon. It is missing something. I am hoping the next book dives deeper into the characters and plot. Otherwise, I will probably discontinue the series. #YA #vampires

I enjoyed this book very much. The main characters had great chemistry and character development. There was just enough tension and witty banter to keep me turning the pages, but not so much that it became annoying/tiresome. Very cute story.

I really enjoyed this one! The writing was fantastic and I really liked the main character. This book was fast-paced and very hard to put down (definitely stayed up too late reading it 🤓).
