A touch boring! I did lots of skimming with this one. Not horrible, not great. (39)

The opening chapter of Sigurdardottir's The Legacy had my heart in my throat. While her husband is away at a medical conference, Elisa is woken up in the middle of the night by her daughter Margret who tells her that she saw a man sitting in the living room. This kicks off one of the best scandi crime books I have read in a very long time with twisted crimes, great characters, a propulsive plot & thoughtful commentary on social issues. Loved it!

If I had a BP monitor attached while reading the opening two chapters it would have read' Out of range. No surprise as this is from the same mind as the delightfully twisted horror I Remember You, but this one is firmly in the territory of Scandi Crime Noir. Halfway through but so twisted & clever with characters to care about.

I really enjoy the Harry Hole series. Although I found the ‘scientific‘ explanations behind this story very far fetched. I‘m thinking I may have thought the same about the last one too. However I will continue to read them as they always keep me interested and turning the pages. I always find myself making extra time to read these books as I‘m always keen to find out who did it!

Wow, this is a what you call #NordicNoir! A fire and a murder in a small Swedish village continue to have effect on the village for years to come. A former police officer can‘t let go and neither does the nephew of the man convicted for the crimes.
In the mean time the book sketches a pretty good picture of the political and social circumstances of the country during the 90s and the 00s. ⬇️

Extremely predictable until the very, very end and then an unreliable narrator enters the scene.

I just found out that my favorite #NordicNoir series has been adapted into into a Netflix show. I hope its good. I'm tagging the old group; fearful they're no longer on Litsy since I have not seen any posts from them.
I liked this series, especially because it had humorous moments.

'Death on the Island' has been described as an Icelandic noir crossed with an Agatha Christie locked room mystery. While it did not seem noir to me, it had all the hallmarks of a locked room mystery. Motives abound for both of the murders, and they are well thought out. There wasn't really a calling together of the suspects like in an Agatha Christie. However, the book had its own unique way of describing the murders at the end. 4 stars.
