There's so many big concepts to discuss in this one; perfect for a book club. Violet is a recently released prisoner struggling with guilt and grief. Harriet is a widowed woman who leads a prison book club. Frank is a widower attempting to move on to a new future. The concept of forgiveness is a big one. Also, I kept thinking about the motherless daughters in the book: Sophie, Kristy, and Violet. Each one struggles with grief in a different way.

I really got into how this is not a typical main character… a bit unexpected framework of a story and it just worked. I don‘t think I‘ve ever rooted harder for a character before.

Bookish_Thoughts I‘ve had my eye on this one for awhile. 2mo

Honestly, I don‘t quite know how to feel about this book which is why I gave it 3 stars.

This book started off so slow. It took me a while to get into it. It just felt like the story was meandering and that made it boring.

By the second half it got more exciting and it low key got a little horny, which I typically don‘t mind but in this case it felt random.

Prairiegirl_reading I was hate reading by the end. Lots of people love it. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4mo
oddandbookish @Prairiegirl_reading I didn‘t hate it but I definitely didn‘t love it either. It got such great reviews and I was expecting more from it. 4mo

Why do I read other books when I‘m supposed to be reading a particular book?

This was so tender, such an unexpected read. I couldn‘t help imagining myself in all their places (kind of the point, I know)

OMG, this book! 😍 It totally stole my heart in a “A Man Called Ove” sort of way. I had tears in my eyes by the end. Loved it!
