Unimaginative story with obvious plot points. Even worse, though… not funny. Not at all funny.

There was one joke referencing Wolf Blitzer that made me laugh, mainly because most of the time I find Wolf on the verge of hysteria. I genuinely feel for John King on election nights when Wolf tries counting votes.

Otherwise, this short audiobook was a complete disappointment. At least it was part of my membership and short.

Great children‘s book about the presidents! The best micro-story is about George Washington and his mother. The best chapter though is the recipe chapter in my opinion.

Alexander Hamilton | Ron Chernow

If Chernow‘s depiction of Jefferson is even half accurate, there is zero reason why we celebrate this man. He was a sniping, elitist prat who celebrated the massive bloodshed of the French Revolution. Is this man for real? I can see where Chernow would have some bias toward Jefferson, but he cites to a fault. This would make Jefferson the forbearer of Trump. He even disparaged legitimate newspapers that were just trying to report the facts.

Karisa I would agree that Jefferson does not live up to the hero hype even based on one name alone: Sally Hemings. https://www.monticello.org/sallyhemings/ 5y
GingerAntics @Karisa he was a stereotypical southern slave holder. Jefferson disgusts me. Yet in the halls of history Jefferson is better than Hamilton? One more mark against this “great man history” BS we teach children. 5y
Traci1 Makes you wonder how the history books of future will paint the "leaders" of today. 5y
GingerAntics @Traci1 I‘m hoping for a different outcome. I think it will depend very heavily on what happens with the next few presidencies, though. 5y

It might not have been true about Washington (or maybe it was true), but it‘s certainly true of our current President.

GingerAntics Finally halfway through this book. I just might make it by the time it‘s due. 5y

Becoming | Michelle Obama

Earnestly and expertly, he cast himself not as an outsider but rather as a literal embodiment of the American story. He reminded the audience that a country couldn't be carved up simply into red and blue, that we were united by a common humanity, compelled to care for the whole of society.

- Michelle Obama, on Barack Obama's keynote address to the DNC, Boston, 2004.

I have so many feelings 💘😭📷✨ Souza throws such excellent shade with his curated photos on instagram so I knew this collection would be great but the whole chronology and reliving the highs and lows of those eight years through just flat out good photos was emotional. I'll be getting the young reader's version for the toddler to remember the president of his birth year 💗 touching, thorough, & fabulously composed #mommyreads #photography #potus
