Small Mercies | Dennis Lehane

Is there anything Dennis Lehane writes that doesn‘t completely wreck you?

Gritty, hard, bleak and so sad with just a nugget of hope.

First finished of ‘24 and I won‘t be surprised if it‘s one of my top reads of the year. #prediction

Tamra I loved it too! Mary Pat is quite an amazing, complicated character. Probably my favorite character last year. 4mo
SamAnne I have been trying to get to this one. 4mo

Pickpick

4 ⭐
This book was Awesome. A bunch of great children‘s authors were given the same question: Why did the chicken cross the road” and then asked to visually give us their answer. My favorite is of course David Catrow, but Mo Willems comes in a close second.

Distinguishing the signal from the noise requires both scientific knowledge and self-knowledge: the serenity to accept the things we cannot predict, the courage to predict the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

wanderinglynn @Ddzmini 👍🏻👍🏻 5y
alisiakae You have some good ones on your list! (Except I disagree with you on Furiously Happy 🤭😊) 5y
wanderinglynn @4thhouseontheleft I get that. Not everyone cares for The Bloggess. 5y
Deifio Paddington! So cute! My daughter loved to listen to the first book. And the one with the garden, too. 5y
Klou Thank you for tagging me. I've not actually read six books yet this year (I'm a slow reader), so I can't pick that many. I will say, however, that my favourite read of the year so far is a Clash of Kings by George RR Martin. It was a really big book and it took me a LONG TIME to read. It's also one of the reasons I've not read many books yet this year 😂 5y
wanderinglynn @Klou any GRR Martin book counts at least as 3 regular books! 😂 5y
wanderinglynn @Deifio Yes, I love Paddington ❤️ 5y
Klou @wanderinglynn well then, there's one half of my Top 6!! 😂 5y
erzascarletbookgasm The Graveyard Book will always have a place in my heart. 💜 5y
