While laugh-out-loud funny in several places and with unique characters I haven‘t met before (a feat in a book of princesses/princes pulled from fairy tales), this story struggles with a predictable storyline.

Lately I've been reading the Princess Diaries series. I read the first few when I was growing up and always loved them. I still love that format in books. I've got two left in the series Royal Wedding and The Quarantine Princess Diaries.

Purchased a copy for a child and realized some readers were concerned about the content and I needed to check it out. I found that this quirky fairytale reminds children that the world can be difficult and silly, but that all are searching and fighting for their heart‘s desire. Read and discuss together. This tale of an unlikely hero fighting fear and rats to save a princess is a four ⭐️ read.
