Second #hauntedshelf read (first hasn‘t posted yet) but I forgot the points system. Will look up.

A Christmas #queerlit romance with a noticible dollop of spice, written by two queer authors. It was good, but maybe a little too spicy for me. Still, it had good characters and was quite compelling. #hexesandcrows

Honestly, I was so back and forth on this book. The story had SO much potential. It was largely character-driven, but I've never hated a character more. I couldn't decide if it was satire or a commentary on mental illness. I stuck with it even though the narrator's voice grated on every nerve because I was hoping for some incredible development, but noooope. There was also some troubling non-chalance toward suicide. 2⭐️

Mehso-so

The book felt more enjoyable after thinking that it was told from the perspective of a mentally I‘ll character. I don‘t mean that badly, as someone who has Asperger‘s. The story is very quirky, and Helen is a terrible investigator into the cause of her adoptive brother‘s suicide. It was interesting that the novel did not use any quotation marks for people speaking.

Is anyone else participating in the #QueerLitReadathon in June? I think I went a little overboard with building a TBR 😬

This was incredible. Baldwin conveys so much about humanity, shame, pain, love, and hatred in this story. The writing is open, honest, raw, and so very human. I am in awe. Definitely a new favorite. I cannot wait to discuss this at my next LGBT+ book club meeting at the end of this month!

Curious about this one... but then again, I usually am about titles dealing with the idea of angels among us... but not in a religious context.

This one was in today's library order and coded as YA fiction 😊

And a very tiny, almost insignificant sneak peek at what the process of building an order looks like on the Acquisition side of #librarylife.

Plus all my little post-it note reminders 😁

charl08 Is this too obvious? I am not the target audience, but dis think it was very well done. 4y
Karisa Magnus Chase's Alex Fierro is genderfluid. Prince and the Dressmaker's prince likes to dress in drag but not exactly nonbinary. Catfishing on Catnet has a few nonbinary characters. Technically YA but feels like a young YA to me 4y
SaunteringVaguelyDownwards I'll be saving these recs too - looking to compile lists for my Children's Lit classes! 4y
