This was the first of two disappointing #pride reads. I thought this might be in the vein of Lumberjanes but for a somewhat younger audience. Alas. There were too many characters that were underdeveloped, certain aspects felt rushed or put in for the sake of saying the book was totally inclusive, and the whole competition plotline (despite its resolution) was so icky.

My library #pride display was called perverted yesterday. I suppose that at least it was just one person on a primary Election Day with predominantly Republican candidates. The display was not damaged nor the books taken. Nonetheless, the comment has stayed under my skin. People are so quick to hate what they don‘t know. Sigh.

How to Excavate a Heart | Jake Maia Arlow

First #pride audiobook of the month, following two print books -- Luisa: Now and Then by Carol Maurel (adapted by Mariko Tamaki) & When Angels Left the Old Country by Sacha Lamb. This is a light-hearted, fun rom-com so far.

Still waiting to find a *great* book with a bisexual female protagonist. I might have to write one myself, tbh.

Also excited about my end-of-the-month Bookly report. It's nice to have time to read again.

LiteraryinLawrence You should totally write one!! 11mo
ellarebee I have a bunch of ideas. I always have trouble sitting down and fleshing them out. I should keep some sort of writing journal on me at all times. 11mo

The title alone caught my eye but the story captured my heart. #readwithPRIDE🌈
Because coming out is a personal experience & sometimes happens over & over again & sometimes can be difficult & uncomfortable & heartbreaking & yet sometimes it can be easy & welcoming & just as normal as you introducing your hetero love to your parents. I wish the later was the norm for all. That‘s why this book is needed. Live your life out loud, Yami! 🌈🙌🏻

Ok, it's time for a confession... Like Ben, I have never listened to Hamilton. 🙈 I know, shame on me.

Reading this book really makes me want to, though! Arthur's enthusiasm and Ben's reaction finally convinced me that I've been missing out. 😁
