Pickpick

Christmas, second chance-fake marriage, romance. With her Nonna being 82 and having heart problems, Antionette ‘Toni‘ D‘Angelo decides to ask her soon to be exhusband if he will fake their relationship during a trip back home for Christmas for her Nonna‘s sake. Also, unbeknownst to everyone, Toni is pregnant. Can they survive Xmas or will the magic of the big Italian Xmas save their marriage? Duh, they forgive each other and fall in love again.

I love these older Harlequins. They're often quite dated of course, with their arrogant, demanding, bossy heroes, but they're also often quaint and charming. The only wrong note this one hit for me was when the hero talked down to a waitress: "Bring along a few nuts and olives too, will you, like a good girl." I hadn't read Dorothy Cork before, but a quick look at my TBR shows I have four more of her books, so I'm quite looking forward to them.

I'm going waaaay back to catch up on books I've been reading these last several months so I honestly don't remember many details about this book. But I do remember it was a 5 star read. Even though it's considered a romance book the romance scenes were few and far between and the 🌶 levels were low. Without spoiling the end I loved that the main character makes herself a priority over the sometimey men in her life. Self love for the win 🥰
