The Tyger | William Blake

#runningonthinicewithtigers I went with tiger here as my BA dissertation was on Blake. Here's my annotations from my A-Level text (I didn't use this poem in my dissertation in the end). #WinterWonderland @Cinfhen @TrishB

Cinfhen Impressive 🙌🏻 6y
TrishB This poem came to mind for me too 💕 6y

Prince of Tides | Pat Conroy

#WinterWonderland #runningonthinicewithtigers There‘s a couple of escaped convicts who get what they deserve after they do what they did. Just FYI, for those of you haven‘t read this, they get killed by a tiger a crazy father keeps at a gas station as means of attracting business. I‘ve only read this and Beach Music by Pat Conroy. Maybe I‘ll take a look at one of his others.

Cinfhen I thought I saw the movie but I don‘t remember any tiger🤪and I‘ve always meant to read Pat Conroy 6y
Cinfhen And nice pick 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 6y
Cathythoughts Nice one 👍🏻♥️ 6y

Reggie @Cinfhen Thanks!! In the movie I think the tiger gets shown in a dream sequence. One of Conroy‘s books is used by his mom in court as evidence of abuse when she was divorcing his father. Beach Music has a Holocaust survivor story in it, it‘s not the whole book but there‘s a reason it‘s there. It was pretty good. 6y
erzascarletbookgasm Ah, okay, thanks for explaining the connection..never read him. 6y
Reggie @erzascarletbookgasm He‘s pretty good. The two books I‘ve read of his have to do with extremely dysfunctional families and how the kids of those families cope or don‘t as adults. He passed away a couple of years ago. 6y
Cinfhen I‘m gonna make it a mission to read a Conroy this year....thanks for the push, Reggie❣️ 6y
LeahBergen @Reggie If you liked those two, you should definitely read 6y
TrishB I loved this book and have the one @LeahBergen recommends on the pile! 6y
Reggie Thanks @LeahBergen I will stack. 6y
KathyWheeler The Great Santini is good too, as is The Water is Wide. I loved My Reading Life, which is his book about the books he loved and that influenced him. The only book of his I‘ve read that I didn‘t like was South of Broad. 6y
Cinfhen That sounds like the movie A Few Good Men @LeahBergen !?!!? 6y
Reggie Thanks @KathyWheeler, I‘ll go take a look. 6y
Centique Yes! I‘m here for the Pat Conroy party too - although I haven‘t read this one, I‘ve read Beach Music and the one @LeahBergen mentioned. 😍 6y
Suet624 Reading this book at night during a pivotal scene had me running around making sure my doors and windows were locked. 6y
Leftcoastzen Love Conroy especially Prince of Tides. 6y
Reggie @Centique @Leftcoastzen I didn‘t know there was so much love for him. It‘s nice to know he hasn‘t been forgotten. @Suet624 the part that freaked me out when I was younger was when the doctor was saying what Susannah keeps on seeing. About the dogs. Oof. 6y
Suet624 Ugh. 6y
KathyWheeler @Reggie There‘s a whole festival about him in November in Beaufort, SC; I went to some of the events this year because I happened to be in the area for another conference. There‘s also the Pat Conroy Literary Center in Beaufort. (edited) 6y
