Skip Beat!, Vol. 35 | Yoshiki Nakamura

I‘ve rather neglected my SKIP BEAT! reread since I got off the plane, but I‘ll dive back into it tonight while I finish this old-style blonde beer courtesy of my cheap grocery store. (Everyone says Parisian food is expensive. Just shop at Carrefour City and you‘ll be fine!) (Unless you want candy. THAT‘s expensive.) NB: I didn‘t have a bottle opener until I found this Eiffel Tower-shaped one hanging outside a kitschy tourist store. It was €0.50.

tpixie There you go, a USEFUL Eiffel Tower trinket! (edited) 1d
xicanti @tpixie at the Museé d‘Orsay, I learned an Eiffel Tower-shaped bottle opener was one of the very first pieces of kitschy tourist crap manufactured in relation to the structure, so it‘s part of a noble tradition, too! 1d
tpixie @xicanti very interesting!!! 1d

Every book that I read by this author gets better and better. Family, regret, strong women, and food!:) ChiChi the songwriter marries Tony the singer…set in the Big Band Era, just a generational read. Love these books. 🇮🇹🍝⛪️

I‘ve officially reached the point in my SKIP BEAT! reread where it‘s all ebooks, all the time. No more hauling around bulky bags of physical copies! Whee!

I also have the volumes on my iPad, but I love how manga looks on e-ink so I‘ll read as many of them as possible on my actual ereaders. #MFMarch

34/100 This wasn't the conclusion that I wanted, but I guess it is the ending that best suits the story. In the end, there's no justice, for anyone, people die, the studio covers more scandals, and everyone shrugs and goes about their business as if it's all supposed to be this way. 3.75/5 #Read2025 #SeriesLove2025

TieDyeDude Yeah, it had kind of a Chinatown ending, which was fitting, IMO. 2w

33/100 The mystery deepens as our writer "hero" foolishly falls in love with the actress hired to replace the other actress. Plenty of secrets come out, dirty tricks, sexual assaults, perversions, scandals the studio is willing to kill to keep quiet. Charlie, the writer, is too drunk most of the time to realize the real danger he is involved in. 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ #Read2025 #SeriesLove2025

1-21-25: My 7th finished book of 2025! How can you not love Carol Burnett? She truly seems like a lovely person. And she is so funny. This book is like little snapshots of her life spanning her humble beginnings and going right up to the publication of the book in 2010. Many wonderful anecdotes about her TV show, some of her movies, her wonderful famous friends and of course her family. Highly recommend if you are a fan of hers. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️📖#️⃣7️⃣

Butterfinger My favorite part was about Jimmy Stewart. I didn't think anyone loved him as much as I. I went on a Carol Burnette Show kick after reading it. 3mo

While the title suggests that this is a book merely about Elvis, this is actually a comprehensive history of Sin City itself. From its humble railroad beginnings to the entertainment capital of the world, author Richard Zoglin takes us through the story of this desert oasis. This is an in depth look at the entertainers that set the stage for a performer like Elvis, people like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis, Jr.
