I was going to say this may be one for the Kelly Clarkson fans. Then I read @LibrarianRyan ‘s review. So maybe not.

The illustrations are lovely - lots to explore in each one. But both the story and the storytelling are just… there… really. I‘m afraid it felt very much like what you‘d expect a celebrity picture book to feel like. #bbrc

3 ⭐ I question how much help Kelly Clarkson had on this book. One it does not sound like Kelly Clarkson. Except for the lullaby. The lullaby sounds like Kelly Clarkson. This book has a decent cadence and rhymes well, but it does not sound like Kelly Clarkson. I especially say this because of how big they‘ve written Grammy award winning artist on the cover and how her biography lists all of her accolades in the music business.

LibrarianRyan It almost feels like the publishers trying to convince us that Kelly wrote this 100% on her own. I don‘t think so. It does not sound like Kelly Clarkson. I love Kelly. I love to listen to her sing, and while this book is fine I‘m not sure it would is something that would be published or be on the shelves if it didn‘t have Kelly Clarkson‘s name attached to it. 2w

Not the best brain book I‘ve read recently. Not the best book about dreams I‘ve read. I feel like the author might be trying to dumb down the info and the writing is boring.

This was lovely. A fun, gentle novel about a department store that sells dreams, and only to people who are asleep in their own worlds. I loved it.

I‘m loving this book. Just the kind of lovely escapism I need right now.

I‘m about 1/3 of the way through this and I can‘t find a plot. Penny wants a job, gets a job, then experiences her job. And then seems to want nothing. A cypher of a character. There is something dark about the interplay of capitalism and dreaming and that unacknowledged darkness against the coziness of the setting is kinda odd.

I'm starting my book club book with only 4 days until we get together to talk about it. 😅 I'm pretty sure I'll finish it in time. It looks fun! 😁

In this dreamy cozy fantasy slightly reminiscent of Before the Coffee Gets Cold in its wide array of characters, a new employee is hired at a department store selling all manner of dreams. It's a truly lovely read, full of fun introspection about the world of dreams and dreamers in an imaginative new way. I'd love to visit the Dallergut Dream Department Store myself!
