pickA very soft pick for this one. The main character is typically flawed but likeable, and the plot develops well, until the end, which seems rather sudden, with the case being solved rather suddenly and far too neatly.

panI struggle with this series, and yet the cupcakes keep me coming back. This is book 7–some this far have been good, others not so much. This one I really did not like.
This one focuses more on the personal lives of Mel and Angie rather than the mystery. A woman who looks like Angie is killed at a zombie walk. It‘s pretty obvious Angie was the target (it‘s related to an ongoing situation from the prior 2 books…I‘m going to be as spoiler free ⬇️⬇️

I read this one for my January #bookspin (3). I had read the first two in the trilogy about 2 years ago, but the second book was a real “pan”. While I‘m glad I finished the series, this one was just barely a so-so. I don‘t like the characters being separated because it made a disjointed story for me. I liked some of the plot lines better than others. By the end I was tired of the book.

so-soI don‘t get the big deal about this book. It started off well but then it dragged. The premise is great though, and weirdly, I wanted Raskolnikov to get away with it! 😂 I didn‘t totally hate this book but I didn‘t love it either. I am glad to say that now I‘ve read this classic!

pickThis well-researched, nonfiction account of Alex Murdaugh‘s trial was riveting. The author chronicled the history of the Murdaugh family dynasty in the South Carolina Lowcountry - generations of power and privilege. Lots to discuss and think about here, besides the obvious issues raised by the trial itself.

This is a dark Mafia romance. Enjoyed the story and the characters even though IRL you wouldn't want to know these people. I like when the author makes you feel for these dark characters. 4⭐️
