Pickpick

A bit slower paced compared to most books I read - but I quite enjoyed this book. Any time the book was getting a bit too slow it seemed to pick up. The plot twist wasn't surprising to me but well written and still enjoyable. This book is full of strong women. It touches on many issues; pauper auctions, women's rights and the suffragette movement being the main ones. Three important issues that all should be educated on.

Pickpick

A novel about the suffragette movement in the UK told through the eyes of the well-off Evelyn who wants to go to Oxford, pacifist May who holds tight to principles (sometimes at the expense of those she loves) and Nell, a girl who dresses as a boy from hardscrabble Poplar.
We have hunger strikes, violence, WWI, a lesbian relationship and bright girls trying to figure out what they can do in spite of what the world may tell them.
Bittersweet.

This is an amazing book and I‘d probably have to say it‘s one of my favourite! It shows how hard to it could be living in the war and not having the right to vote. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. I hope you enjoy it if you read it!

An enjoyable if predictable book of three women spanning from just before World War One until armistice, read more on my blog:

This review is not for this book, but the board book that was made of this book. (It‘s a new thing)

2⭐️
I think this book is too simplistic. My guess is it is for ages birth through 3. Just a very basic overview. The whole book can be summed up with one sentence. Emmeline pankhurst wanted women to vote. That‘s it. The entire idea of the book. No why, no depth, etc.

IamIamIam Books like this always made me sure that I did the right thing reading above my toddler's age ranges. 7y
LibrarianRyan @IamIamIam yes. I don‘t see why if they wanted a board book they couldn‘t have left it The way it was. Ughhh. 7y

Emmeline Pankhurst, an inspiring women's rights activist who changed the world for future generations of women..her story can be learned from this adorable board book/picture book from the series of Little People, Big Dreams. I read this in one sitting at the bookstore. Great read.
