Looking for a Halloween read that isn't scary or gory, here it is. A moving, coming of age, family story. Jake, his misfit friends, and oddball uncle start a ghost club the summer of Jake's 12th Bday. They investigate local ghost stories, myths, and legends, and lose a little innocence along the way.

Also, who knew Nick Cutter had an alias? Actually I think NC is the alias, and Craig Davidson is his real name. 🤷‍♀️

Not in the Litsy database. My first Judith Sonnet. Three church camp buddies go exploring in the woods, only to stumble upon something they shouldn't have. Reminiscent of The Summer I Died, but not quite as good. A quick and satisfying read nevertheless, if you're into extreme horror and graphic violence. This is a "Pick" for me, and I will definitely read more by this author. #SummerHorrorReads

This novella was fantastic. I need more feminist horror in my life. Ancient gods, human monsters, possessions, female friendships. A latina Exorcist, but more satisfying in the end. At least for me. I also really love this cover. #SummerHorrorReads

This was a great read. Super creepy and atmospheric, with a good amount of gore and psychological horror. I didn't know too much going into it, so the villain in the story wasn't what I was expecting. It really worked though. #SummerHorrorReads

Well that was fun! When I saw a review that said it was Survivor meets The Purge I was sold. However, I found it to be more like White Lotus meets The Purge, with an (unnecessary) nod to Stranger Things at the end. Nevertheless, I loved it. A fast-paced, gruesome, bloodbath. The perfect summer read! And that cover *chef's kiss*. #SummerHorrorReads

Well that was a read. Extreme horror/ splatterpunk. I enjoyed this. It obviously had over-the-top violence etc, but there was a storyline, it wasn't purely for shock value. It had a coming of age element to it. If you enjoy that genre I'd recommend it. I didn't realise it was a series, so I may look into that. #SummerHorrorReads
