BkClubCare 1 poetry, only 2 nonfiction?! 😣 2d
Megabooks The Wedding People was so surprisingly good! 2d
BkClubCare @Megabooks - I like Espach. I wasn‘t too surprised 😊 Was it the cover?! (edited) 2d
Megabooks No, it's because I've never read her before! 2d

Loved it 🌟 and despite my last quote post, the narration is fine 🤗

Suet624 I just wish the cover was better. 5d
BkClubCare @Suet624 - had to go check her prior novel cover art to see if “they” were trying for consistent look, but no? Not really? Anyway, I agree, it seems not quite “right”. (edited) 4d

This book is set in Newport RI and I am an avowed Newportophile. So when the narrator mispronounces a street name it is jarring! I have been jarred. 🤣
(FYI - Thames Street is not said like one says in London… it‘s (probably) sadly Americanized? The locals say the TH sound and it rhymes with “names”)

Pic of the view from the rooftop bar of the Vanderbilt Grace Hotel, and if you ever go, you‘ll love the elevator 📚

tpixie I went to Newport- my first visit to RI- the 1st weekend in November, for a Team W book weekend to celebrate their 5th book collaboration . It was a great event and what a lovely town! 5d
BkClubCare @tpixie - it‘s one of my happy places 5d
marleed Oh, I while back I listened to an audiobook and Spokane WA was referenced often throughout the story and the narrator pronounced the city as if the ‘e‘ gave the ‘a‘ a long sound to rhyme with Maine rather that rhyming with ‘man‘. Drove me crazy! 5d

Larkken I was supposed toto be there this thanksgiving for family until work got crazy! I had no idea this book was set there. And I get it about the pronunciation. For me, the state of Nevada will always be triggering 😆 4d
tpixie @BkClubCare I can see why!!! 4d
tpixie Team W‘s 4th book was set in Newport 4d
BkClubCare @Larkken - uh oh. How is Nevada supposed to be pronounced? I cringe often when I hear people incorrectly say Missouri. (It is NOT Miz-OR-ee!! 😡) 4d
BkClubCare @marleed - even me as a Kansas girl knows how to say Spokane! 😃 4d
BkClubCare @tpixie - added to my mile high tbr 3d
Larkken @BkClubCare oh man. People say it like that?!? For me, Nevada the state should never be pronounced like the Spanish word ? the second vowel in the state should rhyme with "bad" instead 3d
BkClubCare @Larkken - 🤨 Now that I think about it… the town of Nevada MO pronounces it WRONG! Don‘t visit, is my advice. Same with town Versailles MO 😂 (ver-sales) 3d

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Phoebe is figuratively in a bad place, yet literally in a gorgeous hotel overrun by a massive wedding. It is immediately assumed she‘s one of the “Wedding People.” Poignancy and hilarity ensue. A bit of seriousness; a bit of satire. Even the kind of awful characters were amusing. Another solid “Read With Jenna” pick!

Suet624 I‘ve been begrudgingly impressed with a number of Jenna‘s picks. 6d
britt_brooke @Suet624 😂 She picks some good ones. A nice variety. 6d

So the other day, I was anticipating The Repeat Room would be on the long list and so I used 1 credit and then I found out it‘s not on the list so I was able to return it. Yay! (I find Jesse Ball a little bit perplexing.)
#ToB2025_LongList #Audiobook

sarahbarnes I agree with you on Jesse Ball. 2w
squirrelbrain Great when you can send them back…they wouldn‘t let me with the last one I tried with - must have returned too many. 😬 (edited) 2w
BkClubCare @squirrelbrain - Yes, I was relieved. It has been a long time since I have attempted to return one. Is it so many per year? 🤷🏻‍♀️ (edited) 2w
squirrelbrain I‘m not sure - I rarely return but had sent a couple back recently. The one I tried but failed was Glorious Exploits - I just couldn‘t get on with it. I might try again as I‘m a completist so I suppose that‘s a positive of not being able to return it. 🤣 2w

Another one I listened to over the summer. I love GUPs adventures with his niece & nephew. This time he‘s helping them prepare for their dad getting remarried. The audio is narrated by the author.

AmyG I loved this audiobook. 2w

Really enjoyed this one! There were several times I laughed out loud. (Spoiler free) summary: Meddelin is a wedding photographer with her family‘s business. When she accidentally kills her blind date, her mother & aunts help her take care of the body - during a wedding they are working. The generational, cultural and language barriers of the characters create a hilarious story! If you need something lighthearted & fun, this is a great choice!
