Children's Classic Stories: Fairytales, Fables & Folktales | Belinda (editor) Gallagher, Miles Kelly Publishing

@moranadatter asked what book made people readers. From my earliest memories, I remember sitting and listening to my kiddie record player while paging through the big picture book that accompanied it. However the book pictured (not the one tagged as it's not in the Litsy database) is one I loved and read and reread. Sadly the pages are even falling out as it's coming apart from being so well-loved.

How to Be a Woman | Caitlin Moran

Mehso-so

A #welllovedread that has received nearly universal acclaim but that doesn't sit well with me. There are too many tricky bits to Moran's brand of feminism. She's great when writing about making her way as a woman and her bonkers upbringing but waiting for a female Einstein and liberating Muslims just aren't ideals I can get behind, which is especially troubling because this book has been championed by many feminists. #riotgrams #welllovedreads

This book will always be one of my #welllovedreads from my childhood. I don't remember who gave it to me but it's one of the books I still cherish.

Catching up on #Riotgrams Days 7-10! So that's #welllovedreads (The Stand - my third copy after the previous two fell apart...), #booksandicecream (my favourite flavour), #lgbtqpride (Leaves of Grass is a favourite summer read), and #booksinthewild (it's raining so wild boys and a cactus will have to do!)

I first met Alanna when I was an 11yo sixth grader. My mother heard about this series, read it, loved it, gave me these books; I in turn loaned them to my best friend Ana & we've been #Tortall fans ever since. These are my original copies which I've owned for 24 years. They are battered & worn & taped up & so very loved. I reread something #Tortall at least once a year & Song of the Lioness Quartet is my OG fave.

Two very #WellLovedReads that I've owned since I was about eleven. As you can see the spines are so cracked they're coming apart and the pages are all puffed up from taking a little dip in the bath. I loved these books when I was a kid and I still love them. Both Harriet and Anne were (are) heroines for me. I think it's time for a re-read! #Riotgrams

whatsjennareading I used to pretend I was Harriet when I was a kid. 😂 7y
CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian @hrhthebookqueen Me too! I kept a notebook religiously for a few years. 7y

Faded covers, brown pages and masking-taped spines, these #welllovedreads still get plenty of love - my seven year old niece has been devouring them!

GuiltyFeat Oh Henry Sugar. Possibly my favourite short story of all time (closely followed by The Fingersmith in the same collection). 7y
