Well. Someone dropped the ball on this one. #MrsMcGintysDead is #book number 28 in the #HerculePoirot series and #TheSecretAdversary is book number 1 from the #TommyAndTuppence #series. Two totally different #stories - one great #retro #bookcover. #AgathaChristie #retroreads #bookstagram #books #coverlove #bookcollector #bibliophile #poirotinvestigates #murdermystery #classic

rabbitprincess HAHAHA! That's an interesting screwup. Also, that cover scared me as a kid! (edited) 7y
tasha @rabbitprincess I just LOVE these retro covers!! I have tons of them! They're fantastic 7y
rabbitprincess @tasha There's a documentary about Agatha Christie that, among other things, touches on the how the cover art for those Fontana paperbacks was designed. It was called The Mystery of Agatha Christie. 7y
tasha @rabbitprincess i just picked up a doc about her!! I should see if it's the same one lol I haven't watched it yet but I got it combined with a big hardcover book about her for $1! 7y

#bookishresolutions This is the first year that I'm doing any challenges besides my Goodreads goal. I'm excited and hopefully won't be overwhelmed. I have made lists to guide me so that should help! 😎

awishman I like your resolution about finishing series. I'm in the middle of...way...too...many. 7y

Bookzombie @awishman Thank you! I am too! I probably could make my whole year catching up with series. Some writers are so prolific! 7y
awishman I keep telling myself I won't start any new series until I finish more, and also that I won't start any series that aren't completed, but I have no self control in this area. 7y
Bookzombie @awishman Same here! 7y

Middle Passage | Charles Johnson

#publishedinthe1990s #retroreads Published in 1990, but I just finished it so good timing! Middle Passage tells the story of slavery in America through a "Moby Dick-esque" voyage of a slave ship in the 1830's. Johnson's writing is absolutely gripping and I had a hard time putting it down. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

One thing I try to do on occasion is read books which were popular or award winners in their day but are not as known now. This one was shortlisted for the Man Booker prize in 1972 and it was such an incredible book! Less than 200 pages, it is the story of two men and their relationship in post WW1 Britain as one suffers from an increasingly debilitating mental illness. A moving and emotional read!💯 #retroreads

GinaAnderson What a great idea. 8y
BookishMarginalia I love the idea of #retroreads! 8y

Spiderfelt Great idea indeed. I was born in 1972. It's fun to throw myself back to that era every once in a while. Each generation has a distinctive flavor. 8y
Megabooks Awesome! Fantastic idea! 8y
Redheadrambles Great idea - if your on Goodreads at all - look up a Group called "The Mookse and the Gripes" we are setting up a historical booker reading subgroup within the general Booker discussion group. ? 8y
