so-soI had high hopes for this one. A mystery involving missing girls from a reservation. Unfortunately, this was a bit boring. The main character, Starr, was very unlikable and I felt no connection with her at all. Most of the supporting characters were not that great too. I was also disappointed in the Deer Woman. I was hoping it would bring a scary supernatural element to the story, but it was underwhelming. This book was ok, but not great for me.

A spooky read that I accidentally read during the perfect season for it (Halloween 2023). It was slow going, yet this one did have some jump scares.

Braiding Sweetgrass was poetic and a joy to read.
While I've enjoyed the Blood Sisters story better, White Horse was really good. Read during last year's spooky season, made the story all the more atmospheric. 👇
Completed my personal goal of finishing this story before Halloween.
While I would have enjoyed a few more scary scenes, this book was exceptional. Sad, yet very well done.
There are some sensitive subjects, yet the author did well (in my opinion) on keeping the descriptions to the minimum (which was much appreciated).

This might be a bit ambitious. Haven't read 4 books at 1 time in years. These days, I usually read 1-2 books at once (rarely 2 unless 2nd is graphic novel or comic). Joining Litsy, along with my recent chat with @Dabbe 👍☺️ has inspired me to again try reading 4 books at the same time.
While, once upon a time, this would've taken me 1-2 months...these days, I expect to be all finished reading these in about 9 years...LOL😄(only kinda kidding😉).
The book White Horse by Erika T. Wurth was lightly supernatural. I found this to be rather interesting if you don't mind a lot of foul language. My review stream #whitehorsereviewedbyanncrystal There are some story warnings.
While not books, you may like the 2008 movie “Older Than America, and the 2007 movie Imprint. They both have some supernatural elements and strong indigenous characters.
