pickWhat did I just read?! Because my heart has been ripped out & now I have to wait, WAIT, for the sequel.
I don't think I'm going to make it. Had I known, HAD I KNOWN, this was book 1 & there will be a book 2, I would have left this book ON MY SHELF until book 2 was released like exactly what I did with Strike the Zither by Joan He. Instead, I'm left with a gaping hole in my chest.
This is why I normally read reviews & check out the book. 👇🏻
panThere are threads of an idea but it was poorly executed. It seemed the author was trying to explore the concept of fate” but it came across as a cheap plot device. Combined with a lack of world-building, poor pacing, flat characters, and predictable plot with no real purpose, this was a disappointing read. I basically skimmed most of it just to finish it & get it off my shelf.

panThe entire story felt like a series of scenes with no overall plot or end goal. And the title bugs me. I get that it's the 3d book and there's a theme, and maybe I'm being pedantic, but Dante didn't get drunk—Cherry *drugged* him (which I‘m not even going to comment on). And I didn‘t like Cherry.
Overall, disappointing. It just felt like lazy story writing just to get a 3d book out.
