Loved this book as much as the first one. I can‘t believe I have to wait so long to read the next one!

Yes I flew through this book! No it was not perfect- but I did love it!! Magic, war, love, friendship, family, found family, dragons, It just checked a lot of boxes. I wish the editing had been tighter, the loopholes less loopy and the angst less angsty- but I absolutely pre ordered the third book- and also- am reading 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Also incase I don‘t mention it enough I love Litsy and my Litsy Family! This is the best community 😘
The second in Yarros' Empyrean series, continues Xaden and Violet's thrilling journey. Seamlessly blending adventure, romance, and intrigue, it's as unputdownable as Fourth Wing. Yarros expands this rich world and deepens character relationships, keeping readers enthralled. While the ending left me wishing for a different choice, it doesn't diminish my excitement for the series. I'm eager for the next installment. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 ❤️📚
Another great read. This author definitely knows when to throw twists and turns in at the right moments! I don‘t always feel compelled to finish reading a series even if I enjoy it. But after the ending of this book I‘ll definitely be reading the next one when it‘s released!
😲 that ending! I can‘t believe I now have to wait until January for the next one. And then who knows how long for the next two after. ARGH! I loved the continuation of the world building and Violet‘s character development. There was a bit in the middle which did drag, but the ending more than made up for it! WRITE FASTER REBECCA YARROS!
4✨ This second book did not have the series curse. It was a solid continuation of the story with danger, dragons, and overcoming odds. There was many intense moments and another cliff hanger! I found myself exclaiming out loud No, no, NO!!! Oh man can‘t wait for January to continue the series. #SeriesLove
“Dragons do not answer to the whims of men.” I want to make a poster of this for my son‘s room. I call him my baby dragon. 🐉🥰- Side note: I‘m so glad my library hold finally came in for this. Completely hooked! 🤩

"I live in pain. I practically built a house there and set up a whole economy."
Yeah, I know that feeling ?
The second book in the series! I‘ve heard a lot of negative reviews but I reaaaally enjoyed it! I had to speed through it before I left for my trip and no regrets ❤️ I cannot wait for the next one!! 🐉

I enjoyed the second book as much as the first. I get the comments that there‘s too much going on and it‘s very fast paced, but that didn‘t bother me at all. I thought it was amazing. The third book comes soon!
Omg guys the library must be so mad at me. Reading by return date even though we don't have late fees any more

A fantastic follow-up to fourth wing… I love this world of dragon riders and can‘t wait for the next installment!

A worthy follow up to Fourth Wing: similarly addictive journey into the world Yarros has created. Interesting to see some of characters‘ motives and introduction of an almost inter-generational battle.
I had forgotten the frustration of starting a series too early, when there will be many years before a satisfying conclusion. But it is a bit of fun.
Well, this definitely wasn‘t as good as the first. When did Violet become a whiny, lovesick little girl instead of a brilliant badass? I also didn‘t love that there was a MUCH heavier focus on the ✨spice✨ than the last book…but that‘s personal preference. And don‘t even get me started on how many “ah ha!” moments the characters had without actually fully explaining their revelation. Overall, still enjoyed…just not as much as the first.
I‘m having trouble with this one…..first it‘s really long….and a little exhausting. It‘s go go go and very fast paced. Way too much Violet for me.
This second book was really good. It was full of action and some surprises that will change things. It ended on another cliffhanger and I can't wait to see what happens next!
I struggled with rating this one. The problem for me is that the MC, Violet, is so incredibly unlikeable to me. She‘s self-centered and self-serving. She also has an immaturity about her that‘s insufferable. I also don‘t like the “teenage” Andarna this book, which is upsetting because I loved her in Fourth Wing. The twists and imagery of certain scenes saved this book, in my opinion.
Lucky dog got a long 3 mile walk so I could finish this audio 🦮
Looking forward to book 3. Hopefully the wait isn‘t too long. I hope Yarros is typing away 😂
I heard a TON of criticism of the Empyrean series. Much of it valid. But some of of what bothered others, didn't bother me. For example, the books are U.S. military coded. The author is an Army brat, so that's not shocking. I served 23 years as a military spouse. While I hold a lot of liberal views, I also hold dear that community and understand some of those hard choices. Not saying that clears the critique, but that those parts didn't bother me.
Violet enters her second year at Basgiath college.

Such a disappointing follow up to a fun first book. Violet and Xaden are insufferable. Most of their problems feel self inflicted. None of their decisions make any sense, especially when they sacrifice logic (and keeping everyone else alive!) for their own romantic plot. Overall terrible writing that could‘ve benefited from some editing guidance.
Wasn‘t a huge fan of Fourth Wing but figured I‘d give the sequel a go to see if more time with the characters/plot changed my mind. Unfortunately, it didn‘t. I can see why people enjoy this story but for me the “shocks” and “twists” don‘t have a huge impact. I think because nothing ever really get explained in the detail needed so when those things happen you don‘t have an emotional reaction to it. Surely there will be another book but I‘m out
This month I‘m so busy with work, that I haven‘t had much time to read. It‘s a good thing that the #BookSpin number was 2, because my 2 was Iron Flame, and I just finished reading Fourth Wing in January. Still at about 30% in, let‘s see if I can finish it before March comes.
4/5 ⭐️. I cried, I squawked, and that ending has me wondering what the heck is going to happen!!!!
It‘s dragon smut nonsense which will do the job if that‘s what you‘re looking for.
An adrenaline rush from the first to the last. It‘s very long, so I alternated between the hardcover and audio. Narration is excellent.
Soft pick. It was fine. I was entertained. The plot thickened somewhat, but I felt underwhelmed when it came to the character development . It could have been 250 pages shorter without taking away from the narrative too. Mature content felt a bit gratuitous. But it hit all romantasy checkboxes and I will likely read the next installment when it comes out, but not quite craving it yet.
So. Much. Action. I knew this was going to be fast paced based on the first book, but to tear through a 600 page book in 2 days is ridiculous. And yet I don‘t regret it. The ending is infuriating, but it had to go that way for there to be 3 more books in the making. My favorite character is Andarna. I love her and everything she is, was, and will be. Book #12 in 2024
I really like these. Let's hope she writes more of them before I get distracted (lose interest).

This sequel was the fast, fun speed read I hoped it would be. The romance novel dialogue was, as the kids say, cringe at times, "How can I say those 3 little words if you won't fully open your heart to me?" Okay, buddy. Violet should know by now that even Xaden's secrets have secrets. Still, the plot raced along, introducing new characters & settings, while moving steadily toward the coming crisis. Not sure about that ending, but bring on book 3!
Sequel to Fourth Wing; fantasy, action, romance, and heartbreak. This book brings back a great cast of characters and introduces new people in the mix. Being a second year means risking friendship as well as life and limb as Violet & Xaden struggle to decide who should know what and how to trust each other.
