You can't go wrong with Joe Hill. A bit slow early on, but very interesting and starting to pick up!

About halfway through this one and enjoying it immensely! Very readable despite the unusual way in which the story is delivered. Starting to really like David Mitchell.

Time to finish up the trilogy. Really enjoying this so far, but I will be sad to leave this story and its characters!

I am not, I regret to say, a discreet and fetching sleeper. Most people when they nod off look as if they could do with a blanket; I look as if I could do with medical attention. I sleep as if injected with a powerful experimental muscle relaxant. My legs fall open in a grotesque come-hither manner; my knuckles brush the floor. Whatever is inside—tongue, uvula, moist bubbles of intestinal air—decides to leak out.

I want you to remember what was good in me, not what was most awful. The people you love should be allowed to keep their worst to themselves.

AGirlAndHerBooks Need to read... 8y
CaffeinatedBooks @AGirlAndHerBooks Yes! You must read this soon! My favorite book I've read this year. It would be a good one to read in between The Passage and The Twelve😉 8y
Casi I LOVED this book. Shame about the movie adaptation... 8y

AGirlAndHerBooks @CaffeinatedBooks that's high praise! It has been sitting on my shelf over a year. I imagine I'll like it. I've loved the others by him. I haven't seen movie so at l sat I'm safe there. 😬 8y
CaffeinatedBooks I haven't watched the movie yet, and I'm not so sure I want to. Some stories you just don't mess with! 8y
MandaNette79 I loved this book!! I haven't seen the movie, and want to, although I'm a books before movies girl lol 8y
RadicalReader @MandaNette79 makes you so eager to compare the book to movie when the film adaptions of books make an appearance 7y

I love Maggie! She was not in this book near enough, I want more. Hopefully we see a short story with her when she was the librarian. Maybe? Please? Pretty please Joe, I'm begging here 😁

BarbaraTheBibliophage That picture is fantastic! And of course so was she! 8y
CaffeinatedBooks It is great! The artist is Gabriel Rodriguez. He also did the art for Locke and Key by Joe Hill. Even if you don't like graphic novels, it's worth a read! 8y
KCorter Locke & Key was my introduction to Joe Hill! He is incredible. Maggie is near the top of my list of favorite literary characters. She was the kind of librarian I want to be when I grow up. :p 8y
RadicalReader @CaffeinatedBooks can‘t wait to check it this book read the description for this on Litsy and couldn‘t add to my TBR section quickly enough 7y

If you've never read any Terry Pratchett or Discworld books, start here! It is a great entry into the series that doesn't rely heavily on the previous books.

bookishchelle The guards books are hilarious. My favourite ones are the Death & the Witches books. Equal Rites is another good one that can be read as a standalone. 8y

I really loved this book! Much better than Heart Shaped Box. I am looking forward to a reread.

colleenreadswithcats The fireman is better still!! 8y
CaffeinatedBooks @colleenreadswithcats then I am really excited for The Fireman! Horns is one of my favorite books in the last couple of years. 8y
KCorter Agreed. Heart-Shaped Box has been my least favorite of his so far. The Fireman though... I would say it's even better than Horns. It's close though. 8y

A somewhat slow but interesting start. About 130 pages in and now I'm getting hooked. I can't wait to get back to it!

Bibliogirl I found the beginning of this hard and depressing, but the pace picks up and it's amazing. 8y
LittlePixels This book pissed me off about halfway through. I mean, ranting to the hubby, ready to quit pissed off. But I hung in there and ended up really enjoying it. So far, I've read the first two, and they're challenging, but worth it. 8y

So much to love here, and much better than the movie. A great read for autumn weather!

AGirlAndHerBooks I know I've not read this book ... I'm not sure I've even seen the movie! 😬 Maybe I should read it! 8y
CaffeinatedBooks Definitely read it! I've only read two John Irving books and I just love his writing. He will make you laugh and cry. 8y
