@collegecatlady It's finally on the way- both books. Sorry for the delay, I hope the extra goodies make up for me being behind. Sorry!!
This has been my favorite #LMPBC so far! @LauraJ @JoScho #GroupH
Since yesterday didn't allow for too much posting, I will annoy you with it all today! Need my #teamslaughter points!
#chillingphotochallenge #scarathlon day 19 No book has ever made me gag before. But that one particularly #gory scene... 🤮 This book became an instant favorite in that moment.
I mean, Clive Barker says it was utterly terrifying, so you know it's gonna be crazy! @Clwojick
🎧 I feel I should have read this one. The flashbacks made the audio feel disjointed or maybe I‘m having difficulty focusing? The book is great. It reminds me of the way King can scare you by taking you back to your childhood! It‘s a cross between The Abyss, The Shining and The Thing. Gross, scary, creepy. I wish they had talked more about The medical reason LUKE went down to the bottom of the trench. All in all a good horror book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Uh...you just lost me, Mr. Cutter. ?
Extinction Kit? Really? I've been in the vet field for 22 years, and I've never once heard of Euthasol being packaged this way. And, perhaps a little research on dosing of Euthasol would have been a good thing. While 2.5cc is certainly more than enough for a Guinea Pig, it's definitely not enough to "flatline a Great Dane." #factcheck
Inaccurate information like this just completely rips me out of a story.
What?!! This was unexpected. You never know what you might get when buying used books... #thriftbooks
A coworker once told me that she had to pull over while listening to this while driving just to collect herself. She said it was the scariest book she'd ever read. I immediately ordered it from #thriftbooks, but it has been sitting on my bookshelf for several months. I think today is a good day to finally get started. #horror #creepy #scarybook 😱
Well. That was deeply unsettling. Get it.😉Not for the faint hearted, the claustrophobic or the weak of stomach, especially if detailed descriptions of maggots, mutations & multiple eyeballs opening up on faces disturb you! Luke is sent down to a deep water lab in the Mariana Trench after all contact with it goes dark. What‘s waiting is far worse than the disease his brother was trying to cure. #SummersEndReadathon #HSreadathon #MountTBR2019
This is already pretty disturbing at 100 pages in. I‘m just at the point where Luke & Al reach the Trieste. I‘m cruising along in the #SummersEndReadathon & #HSreadathon I‘m almost at 60hrs!🙌 How‘s everyone else traveling? Which book are you reading now?
With a last minute vote pulling it over the finish line, my 8th book of the #SummersEndReadathon & the 26th book of the #HSreadathon is a novel described as terrifying, chilling & “scary as f**k”. And I‘m sitting alone, in my library at 3.30am in the morning.😳 Thanks guys.
Reading this during daylight hours. If it hits one more of my creep out buttons, it may end up in the freezer next to Oliver Twist.
#lmpbc
I picked this up intending to read a few pages. 65 pages later Cecil had to remind me it‘s dinner time. (That‘s his annoyed expression.) #lmpbc
“It was not as big as its brothers and sisters, and it looked very different indeed. It‘s head was that of a bee, though it‘s eyes were a bright and fiery red. It‘s abdomen was flesh tones - it looked like a severed fingertip - banded with angry red slashes. It‘s stinger was a cruel spike, dripping venom that sizzled on my skin.”

This book scratched the spot for isolation horror that‘s been itching! The descriptions were rich, but not overwhelming. The characters were deep and Luke was so easy to identify with. It‘s been likened to Event Horizon meets The Abyss and I couldn‘t say it better myself!
I liked this book WAY more than I anticipated and powered my way through. Compelling, gory, and such amazing suspense. This #lmpbc pick was perfect for #GroupHorror! I know this is super early but I‘ll probably send it along next week so I make sure to not forget. One of the few five star horror reads I‘ve had in a long time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I‘m too excited not to start my pick for #lmpbc #GroupHorror! I can‘t wait to hear everyone‘s finalized picks!!
📚 The Deep
🎬 The Abyss
🎵 Octopus, Bloc Party
#manicmonday @JoScho
A dark and disturbing look at what lies in the deep. This book started out a bit slow and derivative. I kept being pulled out of the story...”oh, that reminds me of”...now, back to the story. But the book eventually came into its own and made it a pick. I will never be able to look at guinea pigs the same way ever again (See my post for #QuotsyDec18 | 7: #Magnetic ). And the bees, oh, the bees.

Nick Cutter does not disappoint. I‘m not sure if I liked this or The Troop better but both were so good. Creepy, atmospheric, claustrophobic setting makes for quite the page turner.
4.5/5
Up next. I really like The Troop by Cutter, hope this one is as good.
@bookish_wookish You did an awesome job! I love, love the booksleeve💞 The book choices were on spot and the extras are fun! Thank you!! And thank you to @teebe. for hosting! #N4C #Nightmare4Christmas
I have no problem bailing on books that don‘t work for me, so I don‘t know why I continued on with this one even though I pretty much hated it 🤷🏻♀️ Since I forced my way to the end, The Deep is my #worstread of 2018.

“With aching slowness, the split halves of the guinea pig began to inch back toward each other. They‘re trying to reattach. They want to make the guinea pig whole again.”

This scene from The Deep is quite possibly one of the most disgusting scene I've ever read. From the couple of books of his I've read, I can safely say, Nick Cutter does gross well. The last few pages leading up to this one are no exception, they absolutely made me gag. Not even Clive Barker's work has done that to me! This is an excellent book, horror fans should get a hold of it.
#thedeep #nickcutter
My attention span has been absolute trash lately. Focus is not my friend. I've jumped from book to book to book and scarcely finished a thing recently. So after an extended hiatus from The Deep, I've decided to try to finish it this weekend. It's an excellent book, and I've only got 120 pages left. That SHOULD be achievable. I hate when my reading habits become so fickle.
Anyone else in a slump?
I'm well rested & have my breakfast. I'm about to dive into (pun unintended) the tagged book. I read a third of it last night. Not sure if eating while reading Cutter is the wisest...🤔
Happy #readathon !
#Deweysreadathon
I adore this description, and keep reading it over. Some passages just stick with me. Lovely, lovely writing.
1. My Hero Academia is my adaptation obsession of recent.
2. Swoon Carrot Cake or Ben&Jerry's Pecan Sticky Bun.
3. Not Halloween themed, no. But classified as horror, yes. (Tagged book)
4. Depends on how busy we are. Usually once every other week we'll go through Taco Bell because it's cheap enough to feed my crew.
5. Best, trip to Arizona. Worst, it was for work.
#humpdaypost @MinDea
This book is TERRIFYING. The setting is everything- at the bottom of the Mariana Trench, 8 miles below the surface. I actually felt claustrophobic at times and had to finish it during the day 😂. The way Cutter builds the tension and describes the setting makes the creepy factor even higher. A great pick for horror fans, and was a perfect read to kick off my #spookyreads2018 - 4 👻👻👻👻
1. Went to a birthday party at Peter Piper Pizza (not my pic) & spent the rest hanging out at home. (My little and the cat love snooping on the neighbors. Nosey turds!)
2. G-Dragon last year. Going to see Childish Gambino this Saturday though.
3. So many... Cussing like a sailor, overthinking everything, giving up too easily, eating too much sugar, etc etc etc.
4. My Hero Academia & Supernatural
5. The Deep is next!

Summer is my favorite season but as a horror junkie, fall is my favorite time for books! These are my planned spooky reads this year, including a buddy re-read of The Stand with @TheNextBook
Planning to start with The Deep today! Happy spooky reading! 🍂🍁😈☠️👻🎃
I knew it would be graphic given the goriness of The Troop. I was really enthralled at the beginning and there were some great cerebral moments but it did start to get tiresome by the end. Definitely skipped the pages about LB‘s fate. #aroundtheyearin52books #ATY2018
Creepy and claustrophobic. Even more so in audio! I wasn't completely sold on the ending but the first half was good and I loved LB (the dog). My first Nick Cutter, and I think I'll check out The Troop next.
This guy writes spooky very well. The ending fell a little flat with me but I think maybe the author just backed himself into a corner a little bit. Actually, I can think of several flaws but the author captures something magical with his descriptions of enclosing madness. I just wish the novel was a little longer, maybe a better ending. The last 50 pages were a little meh. Overall though, I‘d recommend it!
Loving listening to a scary audiobook on my daily commute!
Stephen King book recommendations do not disappoint! This was my first time reading the fantastic, Nick Cutter and I am a fan.
A bit of a slow start getting into this book, but really great. Some scary moment - making me remember The Shining and the dreaded second floor room.
#readitnow
Latest library haul. I picked up What if Earth Had Two Moons, How to Build a Dinosaur, and The Deep. The librarian noted that the collection seemed “eclectic”. Seems like a nice way to say weird. I can‘t be the only 35 year old woman into space, dinosaurs, and horror. Right?
Checking out The Deep because of a recommendation by @wtimblin 😃
There are many types of horror stories, but to me at least, the best (or should I say "the worst"?) are the ones that make you feel hopeless before a desperate situation. That's the kind of book The Deep is. And, after reading (and enjoying) two of his books, I will surely be looking for more from Nick Cutter. #thedeep #nickcutter #horror
