Will Graham stands in a silent, empty house communing with a killer. An FBI instructor with a gift for hunting madmen, Graham knows what his murderer looks like, how he thinks, and what he did to his victims after they died. Now Graham must try to catch him. But to do it, he must feel the heat of a killer's brain, draw on the macabre advice of a dangerous mental patient, Dr. Hannibal Lecter, and follow a trail of microscopic clues to the place where another family has already been chosen to die--and where an innocent woman has found the Dragon first.

This was so good!! I recommend it if you enjoy exploring the “dark” minds of killers. Hannibal was a minor character.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ After recently reading Mindhunter, I had to finally try this fictionalization of famous FBI profiler John Douglas. Book one in the Hannibal series, this follows the Tooth Fairy / Red Dragon murders. Imprisoned Dr. Lecter helps detectives catch the serial killer. Sort of. Backstory and development are disturbingly excellent. Lecter is an incredible side character. So creepy.

BarbaraBB I remember this one. So creepy indeed!! 6mo
LeahBergen I read this so many years ago that I could read it again! 6mo
britt_brooke @LeahBergen I just read all the Hannibal books. The first two are outstanding! More reviews to come. I‘m so behind. Have you seen the films? I‘m not sure if I can watch them. 🫣 6mo

Finally got myself into the Hannibal series. I enjoyed this book a lot. The characters were interesting enough and I just found myself enjoying the story so much. Highly recommend if you like True Crime and Hannibal. Also as a side note. If you read Hannibal‘s lines, read it in Mads Mikkelsen‘s voice. 10x better to read it with his accent.

Red Dragon by Thomas Harris. My all time favourite the book and the film both fantastic.
Room by Emma Donoghue. The book is far better than the film.
Red Riding Hood by Sarah Cartwright and David Johnson. The book goes into a lot more detail but the film is great viewing.

I have been wanting to read this for years, so I‘ve built it up a lot in my head. A lot of my expectations were met! It‘s a good suspense book, not much of a detective story as you follow both the investigation then half way through the murderer too. I loved the look inside the bad guys head, along with the chase and creative ending… but the intro to Hannibal was weak. I was expecting a mastermind, but maybe that‘s reserved for the sequels?

You guys...I made the mistake of finishing this book yesterday, then watching the movie before bed. Big mistake! This book is so disturbing but in the best way. Dr. Lecter is such a fascinating character, even though he only has a bit part in the 1st book. The main bad guy in this one is so intriguing. Definitely will leave you w/some imagery that won‘t go away anytime soon. Highly recommended to those who love thrillers & don‘t mind some gore.5⭐️

I'm definitely biased as a huge fan of the Lecter universe in general, but I enjoyed this book. It was the only one in the series for which I had no real expectations for the story having not seen this book previously portrayed elsewhere (I haven't watched all the films/shows!). It's definitely a graphic and often unpleasant read- but that's what you'd expect from the mind that created Lecter!

If your looking for a well written psychological thriller look no further. Not only do you get to see inside the mind of the protagonist the “Tooth Fairy” but you also get to see inside the mind of none other than Will Graham himself. This book is dark, emotional, and full of surprises. Plus you get a glimpse at the infamous Dr. Hannibal Lecture.

Well I‘m hoping this may get me out of my slump. I took a mental health day today as it was much needed and I haven‘t read in a day and usually I‘m reading a book or two so it‘s odd for me. Aiming to finish my 3-4 current reads and maybe start one more.

Damn another ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read! Morbidly Fascinating, Gripping and twisted and kept me super engaged. Pretty horrifying. I had seen this movie before but was so into the book I had forgotten what happens and was shocked and on the edge of my seat, great horror/suspense. But I absolutely hate that William Blake painting, ugh nightmarish👹

Another Hannibal Lecter novel although it had very little Lecter in it. This book also had much less sexism than The Silence of the lambs.

This was some kind of shorter version of the book in audio form. It is anoying when it doesn't say in the description that it is not the full version. This book was ok. Nothing special. I think the movie might be better.

My 8th book of March unfortunately doesn‘t count towards my #MarchUnshelfing total, but at least it‘s another book checked off my miles long list of #BooksToReadBeforeIDie Not as gripping as Silence Of The Lambs was, I much prefer Clarice to Will Graham, it also suffers from being a bit dated but still a good read. Next up I‘m catching up on some Bosch I haven‘t gotten around too. Do ebooks count in the #challenge @Clwojick They aren‘t library.🤔

Clwojick S books don‘t count this time, though I did talk about hosting something similar with ebooks since I have over a thousand 😅 5y

Bk8 of my #MarchUnshelfing #challenge is a library book, but it‘s been renewed a few times so does it count? The first Hannibal Lecter novel, it follows the FBI agent that caught Lecter as he‘s on the hunt for another serial killer. Dubbed The Tooth Fairy by Atlanta police because he repeatedly bites his main victim, Graham needs to get inside his head without causing himself more trauma than was left after Lecter tried to gut him. Fun times!🔪🩸

Clwojick Ahhhhh! I need to read these!!!! I have one of them on my shelf, but I think it‘s Hannibal. 5y

Bk5 of my #librarybookhaul is the 1st in the Hannibal Lector trilogy. Another book that‘s gone missing from my home library, I‘ve recently reread Silence Of The Lambs and wanted to brush up on the prequel before going on to Hannibal, which is the only one I have left on my shelves. I know Lector is a monster, but he‘s such an interesting character! #somefavabeansandanicechianti🍷

Can Special Agent Will Graham find the monstrous Red Dragon, a serial killer targeting families, before he kills again? A very taut psychological thriller with characters you become emotionally invested in, leading to an explosive ending. Looking forward to the sequels!
