Clear why this is a classic. Slow burn that accelerates to a sprint-paced marathon finish. Wonderfully combines action with philosophy and the consequences of so-called “advances.”

A must read classic science fiction novel. Fans of the film may be bothered by narrative changes that take a slow burn thriller and transforms it to an action adventure. However, many of the themes of control, genetics, and recreational attractions and the mathematical sledgehammer of info dumps throughout work better as a novel than a film.
An example of source and film being perfect but also different.
I got this book because I really wanted to read the story that the movie was based one. They movie and book are quite different from each other in a lot of ways, the book makes the dinosaurs seem way more terrifying and the park management way more incompetent. The only thing I didn‘t like was book Lex, she is the most annoying character I‘ve ever seen. If you look up the tv trope “The Load”, you‘ll understand. I still really enjoyed it though.
Hey everyone. First off I'd like to thank everyone who checked in on me whilst I've been missing. Had a lot going on. Been a long time since I've been able to read sorry @curiouserandcurioser as I know we were reading together. On the up side I have finally been able to talk my sister @CymbaX13 into reading Jurassic Park. I'm hoping to read along with her with my new little buddy pictured above. I hope everyone is ok, happy reading and weekend
It's perhaps an unfair comparison, as nostalgia and repeated viewings have the original film firmly entrenched in positive association and memory, and this is my first time encountering the book, but this is a case for me of ' the movie was better'. 1/?
Freedom for the moose! Clever moose! 🫎
This is just a weird passage to read for a Canadian, in any case, not that I want to hear about any animals in zoos, but I can't think of anything less exotic to put on display!
Latest coincidental colourway of current/upcoming reads to please my eyeballs. 😍
Another excellent read. Quite a dark book comparing to the movie. Gripping action holding up until the last minute. I was surprised how the focus of the book was almost complete opposite from the movie, greed vs. miscalculated dream. Both movie and book are excelent, now I am very curious about The Lost World book, hopefully will pick it up soon.
I have to confess, I‘m only a few pages into JP, but it‘s already so good. I‘ve actually read it before, but it was not long after the movie came out when I was 10 years old, so I don‘t remember much, and probably didn‘t really understand it.
I made Salsa Lizano for #FoodAndLit #CostaRica, & put it on a ribeye (that I got WAY on sale 😉). It was really good, but I wish my pic was better. That steak looks like it was mauled by a velociraptor.
Oh, that was fun, those were some nasty dinosaurs 🦖 I see how this is a classic, I really liked the mathematician and his predictions, his criticism of modern society, ethics and also how he makes everyone consider the responsibility for their actions, even the palaeontologists.
Absorbing, couldn't stop listening!
(I never watched the movies, but will watch at least the first one now😃)

i really identify with the character Alan grant because he likes dinosaurs and i like dinosaurs he is smart and rational and (according to my friends) I'm smart and rational
I don‘t have any punny books, but this is my favourite book related shirt from Out of Print

the antagonists of Jurassic pack is the dinosaurs and nature. the raptor are a example of the intelligence of the dinosaurs and ability to adapt and the Rex/Rex's
show the power of dinosaurs/nature these two aren't the only dinosaurs in the book but they play some of the biggest roles. the human antagonists is Nedrey he sabotage the park
I read this book back in high school and reread it as part of our local book store‘s Books to Movie series. It‘s still a page-turner. Parts read as if they are current events of today. I love the science behind the story. Yet I can‘t help but think that Steven Spielberg improved on the elements with his film.
the main conflict is man vs nature (kind the dinos aren't natural) one of the conflicts is with the raptors and how the humans think they are all in there cages but there are actually multiple out side the border fence and using the cargo boats to escape to the main land. the now wild raptor even got new colors to blend in to the foliage on the island.
alan grant is a very interesting character we both share a love for dinosaurs. in the book we see alan kill the raptor by putting a posion in eggs and rolling them to the raptor so they eat the posioned eggs i would of never thought to do this which makes the character so interesting.
this is a good book for si-fi horror fans. the book has more gore and is darker then the movie. on of the darker parts is when a newborn is eaten alive by a small bird sized dinosaur called Procompsognathus and another darker part is when three raptors rip apart a baby raptor and eat its body. a third dark part is when a character named Nerdy gets hi organs torn out while he is alive by a 10 foot tall Dilophosaurus. there is alot more it is cool
The debate carried by Malcom about if science really contributes to advance civilization and how we should ask scientists for accountability and be aware of which "advances" are good for us and which ones are not is really interesting. The author talks a lot about how we are not destroying the planet, the planet will survive, life will continue, we won't.⬇️
Good science fiction makes you believe that what happens in the book could happen in real life, doesn't matter how fantastic it sounds.I'm not going to surprise anyone by saying this books makes you believe that cloning dinosaurs could happen(and that it would be a bad idea?).For those fans of the first movie that are wondering if reading the book worth's it,yes,it does. The material is well researched, the story is a bit different, and ⬇️⬇️
This was me absorbed in Jurassic Park while in Puerto Vallarta. This was one of (if not the) most exciting books I read in 2022 (finished on Jan 2nd). It‘s grisly, cinematic, and grounded in its fantasy, which is terrifying. It was a blast! 🦖
The book is even better than the movie. After seeing the movie countless times I didn't expect the book to surprise me but it did.The book had several different details, and plot holes in the movie were closed. Remember the Dino poop scene? Answered. I finished at 1am and couldn't sleep from that hyped up horror feeling. This book aged well. I Definitely recommend it! #bookspin November @TheAromaofBooks
From page one there is a quiet horror that seeps out of the pages, the build up is slow which only adds to the dread, the gloom is a real as the mist over the island.
Then all of a sudden everything happens at once and I spent 60% of the book in a state of anxiety. There is no let up, no recovery time, no time to sit back in your seat, its full on up until the last page.
This is an incredibly bingeable book.
Fantastic.

Chaplin told me I absolutely had to choose Jurassic Park for this letter since it's my husband's favorite book of all time! And really, I do love it too! 💕🦖🦕 #catsoflitsy #chaplin
#Alphabetgame #LetterJ @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
I definitely recommend the book even if you've seen the movie a thousand times. The book gives a lot more insight into the theoretical aspects of the story, but it's still fast-paced and action-packed.
I couldn‘t believe how close the movie stayed to the book. I read this more than a decade ago and it was just as fun this time around. Dinos and death, human hubris and it‘s inevitable downfall, so fun!
Great article & having just seen the newest Jurassic, I so missed Ellie Sattler & all the great, no bs women on this list. We need more of that in books & movies.

Guess what movie I‘m seeing? Lol! I hope it‘s good!
Finally got around to reading this. I must say, as much as I love the movie, the book is just so much better.
My son got this for his birthday. I think the adults are enjoying it more then he is. Trying to convince my hubby to read the books, he is more of a movie watcher only kinda of guy.
Read it right after my friend, Caitlin #bfls
Can be summed up by a tweet I saw “in a sense, none of our dinosaurs have ever escaped because society itself is just another larger cage. Fuck yeah that sounds so smart. But yeah like 18 to 19 dinosaurs are currently loose.”

3rd reread but 1st time reading my folio society edition with original illustrations 🦖😍🦕 this will get me out of my reading slump. Happy reading and weekend everyone 📚 ❤ 📖 #jurassicpark #dinosaurs #foliosociety #scifi #thrill #horror #adventure #illustrations
I‘ve read this I think twice before, and somehow always seems to forget everything about it. This time around, I found Lex incredibly irritating. Having 3 kids, I can‘t imagine an 8 yr old acting so whiny and petulantly in such dangerous situations. Also, Ellie did nothing but look hot in her short shorts. Maybe Crichton didn‘t like women back then? Otherwise, fun read, fun dinosaurs.
RANDOM POST: This will probably be the most random thing I ever post on here buttttt I just wanted to share my Stegosaurus birth mark(it's on my knee) with all of Litsy because I feel super special! My oldest son has the same birth mark on his back (: Hahaha currently been binge watching Jurassic Park/World and cannot wait for the next one to come out this summer.
Happy weekend everyone. These are my dinosaur novels. Can anyone think of any I'm missing or you recommend please? Let me know if you need me to read a title. Happy reading everyone hope you're all ok. #dinosaur #prehistoric #jurassic #triassic #cretaceous #adventure #scifi #science

Day 147.
Here I will note 365 books (or as many as I will have before I get tired) that have shaped my taste in literature. No explanations, no reviews. Just the cover of the book.
I do not challenge anyone. You are all welcome to take part.
Coming to this from watching the films, there are so many differences, especially in terms of the Lost World. Man, were we cheated terribly in that film adaptation. Cheated!! Sarah Harding was such a badass in the book.
Much like Crichton, a lot of scientific details to make it all plausible and natural within the scope of the fantasy without losing the reader. Both books were entertaining, detailed, and yes filled with science and dinosaurs.
New Year‘s Eve Jurassic style! My last book finished in 2021. Suspenseful and I like it as well as the movie. Still working on my alphabet challenge to read my shelves. 3/5🦕s
Had to ask permission to share this as it isn't mine but WOW! As a Jurassic Park and book lover I absolutely love this tattoo 😍😍 @CymbaX13 @TheWolfbehindTheEyes #jurassicpark #dinoreading #clevergirl
Someone is being daring today. Yes I am having a heart attack right now. @Enchanted_Bibliophile I'm sure you understand. Bilbo yes you are a raptor and yes they jumped on the T-Rex in Jurassic Park but this is NOT acceptable 🦉😱😬🦖 @CymbaX13 @Jackal121 #dinosaurs #jurassicpark #raptor #owlsoflitsy #lego
