I do love a book that opens with a map. 🌍

My car battery died two different times this week listening to Julie Andrews read this on audio. I turned the car off but let it keep playing; I couldn't pull myself away. She is my queen.

Wrapped a birthday present this morning and realized I missed Lauren Graham, who kept me company through lots my Christmas wrapping this year. There were some preachy bits that made me roll my eyes, but mostly this book was great - felt like fun familiar company. Recommend on audio.

My 5yo requested a library book in the hammock, so after pushing her aside all week for work, today I made it happen. And this book is a freaking DELIGHT.

I would like Dick van Dyke to come over and life coach my 5yo losing her sh!t every morning while packing her lunch.

This book is not at all the mood/energy/feel I was expecting from the cover and the publisher blurb. (In a good way.) It's a multi-generational Bildungsroman that feels contemporary, with smart and sassy flashbacks. It's excellent so far, and I'm really drawn in.

He's very wrong about that cockroach, but other than that, this bratty spoiled king with specific food cravings that end the world when they don't happen? HE GETS ME

I love MANY children's books, but I've been in a Harry Potter re-read (alongside my son) in recent months, so this is the top one on my mind. Also, I just started this podcast this weekend. Once upon a time, I (loudly) called my (very best) friend DIPSHIT at Starbucks, for not seeing how to put two cards together to complete this half-heart design. Now I smile at it every year. At the library earlier we found a children's collection of poems and songs put together by Julie Andrews. With a companion CD! It was balm for our souls this afternoon.

A passive-aggressive friendquaintance gave this to me years ago, as "something to think about," which irritated the shit out of me ? but somehow I never got rid of it. Apparently some part of me wants to read it. So, here goes.

This turned into a total hate-read, but maybe the fun kind. The writing is good and I stayed captivated, but the story and main character pissed me right the eff off LIKE WHOA. One lowly hateful star, with a mad face.

I recently re-claimed many of my childhood BSC books from my mom's house. Yes I'm actually re-reading them, and I'm not sorry in the least.

GR isn't as pretty as Litsy, but I do love these bookish quotes that pop up while the app is loading. This one delighted me, about books and art in general. (Also it made me want to make Charlotte's Web my next book to read to the kids.) 💚

I got it in my head yesterday that I should re-read Twelfth Night (because, yknow, twelfth night) and well, let's just say I'm glad my complete works from college has lots of notes in the margins. 😂 (I like it as much as I remembered, though!)

Can you still call it a TOME if it's the audiobook version?

Reading this book with a friend, got ahead, and had so many thoughts I couldn't text yet that I saved them all in notes on my phone. (As a book partner I'm normal and delightful and not at all exhausting.)

Fun birthday present I gave this weekend: the new bread cookbook for my ATK-obsessed friend, and this Better Batter Tool (Tovolo) that I swear by!

First book of 2017 was on audio, with the kids. (Required immediate googling of "how to talk to kids about racism and native Americans" which isn't, like, fun - but also isn't a bad thing.)
