Great story to explain to children the concepts of print
“Someone is looking at us! Who is looking at us!”
This story follows piggy and gerald an elephant and pig. These two go on a journey realizing they are in a book and they are being read by someone else. This book does a great job of being fun as well as informative to children about the ways that a book works.
A reader is reading us!
When you go to the library…but are also a pirate 🏴☠️ 🤷🏼♀️ #raisingreaders
My nibling can read the Elephant and Piggie books on their own.
I thought y‘all would find it cute that they read an ellipsis as “wait, wait, wait.”
My mom knit Elephant and Piggie—with interchangeable sweaters—for a charity auction. And then she paired them with my very favorite of all the Elephant & Piggie books. It almost makes me wish my two teens were toddlers again! Such a wonderful gift for some lucky child. She is sooo talented—I have neither the patience or the skill to create such awesomeness.
I bought six new pairs of socks from Out of Print, and this is one of my favorite pairs. Alice and I have been reading a ton of Elephant and Piggy lately; I‘ve even perfected my voices for each of them. The books are cute and funny and we have tons of fun reading them each night. I also bought Pigeon socks because really, Mo Willems is just freaking awesome, y‘all.
I got to take my time and browse at the library today for the first time in 5 months... I may have gone a little overboard in my excitement! 😉
I am a big fan of Mo Willems, and see he is doing doodle classes during the isolation. My 8 year old next door neighbor sent this to him tonight. I love it!
“Piggie.. I think someone is looking at us“ This is something Gerald the Elephant says at the beginning of the book. I think this is a funny quote that shows how the book incorporates the child into the story.
This is a great book to read out loud to the children so you can add expression to the character's voices. It really adds humor to the story.
“We are in a Book!“ by Mo Willems, 2007. Picture book. I read this book at the CDC! The pictures are a very integral part of the text, because it's about the characters being “trapped“ in the book. I think it's very creative! I know this is appealing to kids because my students were laughing so hard.
I would use this book in my classroom when my students are expanding their vocabulary and to get them to read more. This book will help them to want to read and enjoy it because it has character involvement where the characters in the story ask you, the reader, questions.
This book is a great book for any age really because it is character involvement with the reader itself. The illustrations are really good and the vocabulary is good for young new readers.
1. Winnie the Pooh. I got it when I was 5, and, 60 years later I still have that copy.
2. Summers in northern Michigan.
3. I never had chores. My mom was a perfectionist, so she did everything for us so that it would be done “ right”. I had never made a bed or used the washer when I moved out.
4. Board games. My sister and I could play them for hours and hours. We still do when we get together.
5. Elephant and Piggie! ❤️❤️❤️
#hellothursday
My 6-year old has really been enjoying interactive books lately, and he thought the way this one broke the fourth wall was hilarious. Gerald wiping a tear of laughter away after they make the reader say “banana” is my favorite. 😂
Readathons always include bedtime ☺️ so here are the girls' picks for the #11thHourReadathon
Happy September. I am very much looking forward to feeling a chill in the morning air, even though down here in the South it is still a ways off.
Also this photo challenge seems like a chill one I can hopefully keep up with.

This is a good book to use with younger students who are learning how to read. This F book is great to use as a RA in your class. This book will make students want to read. https://study.com/academy/lesson/we-are-in-a-book-lesson-plan.html this link has a great lesson you could use with students related to this book. Students can write what it's like to be in a book with a partner (esol 2 ) (udl 3.1) #UCFLAE3414SP18
This F by Mo Willems is a Geisel Honor book that would be great for grades K-2 as a RA and I would use it to teach book and print awareness. In this book, Elephant and Piggie figure out that they are in a book and can make the reader say whatever they want. They also talk about book pages and how to tell when the book ends. #ucflae3414sp18
Family story time with reader, Ellie. I love them so much.
Gerald & Piggie break the 4th wall and I actually laughed out loud! So far, this is definitely my favorite Mo Willems book!!! When Gerald finds out the book has to end, the drama is intense. I feel your pain, Gerald!!! 🤣
We Are in a Book by Mo Willems is a humorous F picture book that won the Geisel award. The story follows Gerald and Piggie‘s realization of being in a book. At first they are confused, until they realize they have the power to tell the reader‘s what to say and do. This would be a great book for CR because of its interactive nature and humor. Children will definitely be laughing when they read this book! #ucflae3414f17
This is a hilarious frictional story that won a Geisel award. Elephant and Piggie come to the realization they are in a book were they begin to question their existence. Eventually discovering they have the power of telling the reader what to say. It‘s a story children will really enjoy reading and playing along with. Can be use for an RA or GR.
We Are In A Book is the F story of Gerald and Piggie realizing they are in a book. This is a great book for CR because it is so interactive and it would definitely have students laughing.
Two favorite friends joining me for breakfast. 😊
We Are In A Book! Is a comical F picture book, awarded the Geisel Honor, written by the famous Mo Willems. It is about Elephant and Piggie, discovering they are being read about in a book! Great pick for PR as one student can read as Elephant and the other as Piggie. UDL 7.2- optimize relevance, value (very simple text perfect for emerging readers). EL 32- use student pairs for team learning.
Today's author spotlight: Mo Willems! The 49-year-old was born in Illinois, raised in New Orleans, attended NYU, and now lives in Massachusetts. He started drawing cartoons at 3, and knew he did well when adults genuinely laughed. He won 6 Emmy Awards with "Sesame Street" and worked with Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. He's been married to his wife, Cheryl Camp, for 20 years, and they have a daughter, Trixie. #AuthorPotpourri #TheMoreYouKnow
When I saw today's prompt, two things came to mind. Both involving pigs. 😜Pooh and Piglet...... and Elephant and Piggie! #wegotogether #jubilantjuly
More loot from my bag that I won!

When I did storytime at work, I would use any excuse to read an Elephant and Piggie book. And, of that series, of course my favorite is this one! #favoritechildrensbook #riotgrams
Life advice from Mo Willems, pulled from the pages of The New Yorker. // I did this in 2014 and I highly recommend it.
Elephant Gerald (named after Mo Willems favorite singer) & Piggie are two of my favorites. #anthropomorphiccharacters #feistyfeb @RealLifeReading
There is an article about Mo Willems in this week's New Yorker. And it's an awesome cover! 😍😍😍😍

I adore this series of Elephant and Piggie books. Great illustrations and laugh out loud stories.
I love that Mo Willems adds Pigeon to the end papers of every Elephant and Piggie book. #endpapers #readjanuary
A great series! We read this with our 5 year old nephew and he wanted to read it again immediately after! Love Elephant and Piggie!
