Bklover Can‘t wait to read your review tomorrow. As a reader who lives in a house of non-readers, I depend on people like Anne (and all of Litsy) to be my bookish kindred spirits. When you read an amazing book and you put it down and there is no one to share it with - that is a crisis that can only be dealt with by other Littens. Thanks for the giveaway! I‘m in US and can be contacted here. 6y
ForstRose @Bklover you are the winner. Please email me bibliophilesretreat (at) gmail with details to get your book and some goodies to you. 6y
Bklover Really!!!!!!??? That‘s awesome!!!! Thank you- will email you right away! 🧡 6y
Bklover Email sent. Let me know if you didn‘t receive it. Thanks! 6y
ForstRose Got the email - will be sending out the book and goodies soon - might be next weekend depending on how busy my work week is this week. 6y

In one sense my weekend reading is ‘exciting‘ in another not so much. I got the dream call today. I‘ve been working at my County Office of Education through their substitute clerical list for most of the last two years. I‘ve applied for a few positions that came open during that time. Today I got that call offering me a position I interviewed for that I‘ve been subbing in for a couple months. So my weekend reading is the new hire paperwork.

Finished this book a few days ago. Hoping to schedule the review post before next weekend. Will post the link when it is up. All I have to add is 😭need Kleenex for this one. Can‘t and won‘t say more because I don‘t want to spoil it for those that haven‘t read it.

Almost to 75% no longer feeling this one is quite so predictable but still feeling a bit on the fence about it anyway. Kind of too little, too late for it to become something other than just an everyday, predictable, college fling IMO that is.

So... this is my current read.... It‘s not horrid like Paris by the Book turned out to be but the MC flirts with disaster in more ways than one early on and in some ways I could see where that was going right away. I‘m not even halfway through and already feeling like this is rather predictable. The writing is good, characters are decently developed, creativity just lacks a tad so far IMO unless there‘s some serious twist later.

I finished this book a few days ago. I am two for three on my picks so I‘m feeling better. Reviews to come on this and the previous read. I just have to find time to post them.

Love this cover too. Sad that the eArc doesn‘t have any cover art. Just a boring old text galley. However I‘m through chapter 5 already.

You probably all know us bookish sorts can‘t finish one book without starting another. Here‘s my new read. I think my picker is back on track now. This is way different from the last two as it‘s dystopian fantasy. Being a connoisseur of several genres I enjoy switching things up. I‘m really getting into this one so far. The premise of a world where your worth is dependent on not only being born a twin but on both twins surviving intrigues me.

I‘m so excited but also disappointed. Why? Because this book was too good to end but I finally had time to finish Eliza‘s story. I‘ll hopefully get a review up this weekend on the blog - Bibliophile‘s Retreat.

Through chapter 17. Kindle says at 39%. It still seems like I want to read more than I have the time to. In some ways this is good in others not so good. I get to enjoy the book longer but I don‘t find out what happens to resolve the cliffhanger moments as quickly as I‘d like.

Thru chapter 14. Kindle says I‘m at 32%. I‘m enjoying this book and Eliza‘s story. I just wish I could read it faster. Of course I‘ll probably get to the end and wish it wasn‘t over - lol.

TrishB I‘m tempted by this one after seeing Hamilton last week! Be interested in your review. 6y
ForstRose I haven‘t seen Hamilton though my understanding is this book focuses on Eliza rather than Alexander. From what I can tell so far it also spans more than just her marriage and time with him. It does give a detailed look at their relationship as a couple but Eliza definitely has the central role in this book. No spoilers here, I don‘t think and I don‘t intend to have any in the review either. 6y
rubyslippersreads @TrishB One of the most interesting parts of this book is an afterword that discusses differences/similarities with the musical. 6y

Busy, busy and oh how I want to keep reading I didn‘t get nearly as much ‘extra time‘ to read as I hoped over the weekend and my usual time to read before I turn the lights out for bed has been nearly non-existent this week. I managed to finish Chapter 10/44+Epilogue of the eArc last night. Kindle says I‘m at the 23% mark. This book doesn‘t feel like it‘s dragging just like I don‘t have enough time to read as much of it as I‘d like at once.😢😀

Much better... I like the cover on this one rather than a blank post. Anyway hopefully I‘ll get my review of Paris By The Book up on the Blog and get in a few more chapters of Eliza‘s life during the war. I made it through Chapter 7 tonight so 3 more chapters down. This book is more agreeable to my tastes than the prior one I read. I only wish I were able to read more at a time.

1) Summer
2) Fiction
3) No Book Club (well unless blogging counts - lol)
4) Both (print preferred but space is an issue in this season of my life so I‘ve discovered the pros of ebooks)

Only one chapter tonight. But maybe I can do my weekend ‘work‘ laundry and household chores and such quickly so I have extra reading time the next couple days. 😉🤔at least a bibliophile can hope...

ForstRose

A couple more chapters tonight. Wishing I could read more of this at a time. The story itself isn‘t moving quickly per se but this is one of those books you could just keep on reading till you run out of book. The authors immerse you in the story world.

Just started reading tonight. I am always intrigued by historical novels. This one starts during the Revolutionary War and is presented from a unique POV. Looking forward to reading more. Through Chapter 1 tonight.

I‘m a bibliophile + Francophile. I read the description of this book and thought cool! Paris, mystery, books what‘s not to like? The premise is great and the writing leaves little to be desired. However, I found myself feeling like something really was lacking for me in this book beside the ‘missing person‘ that is intrinsic to the plot.

EJG31 @ForstRose I picked it up for most of the same reasons and I am having a hard time making it through the first chapter. 🤔 6y
ForstRose @EJG31 I did finish the book but it almost ended up a dnf. My review is on my blog at http://www.bibliophilesretreat.com/2018/04/15/auto-draft-2/. I still need to work on the formatting to get a few things like the book cover and author bio to show but the main review and my ratings are there. 6y
