I loved this book. It gave a description of Italian people who worked very hard for little reward. It has so many themes that impact the two girls featured in the story.

I'm only on page 89 and this book is achingly good. I care so much for the characters. I highly recommend.

Ericmanciniwriter Loving this book - though I had to put it aside for my vacation because it was too intense 8y
MichellisLife I just put this one down at 450 pages because it became too intense for me as well. Her writing and characters are both severely amazing. Just some of the topics that are rehashed throughout this book were hard for me to handle. 8y
bedandabook Most incredible book I have read in years. Still haunts me. 8y

Some stories left me with mental images that I would see only in dreams. The more I thought about them the less afraid I was.

I enjoyed this story of a nameless narrators adventures with many clever characters as they fight to restore the world and its inhabitants from a bomb that makes things just go away.

This is a wonderful story. Scifi is often the best way to show what we miss or don't think about in reality. That's one of the reasons I love it so much. We can understand those who are so different from us.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I really enjoyed this short story too! 9y

I was disappointed in this book. It was mentioned so often by reviewers as being a top book. It started well but dragged toward the middle to the end. I didn't feel the writing style did much to enhance the story.

The Ballad of Black Tom is a horror novella that contains themes found in stories of H.P. Lovecraft. The attraction of evil is too compelling for some characters to resist. It is well written and I recommend it

I really like this book. The characters were compelling. At time it was so scary I didn't want to read it at night but I didn't want to put it down. It had an ending that was more complex than I expected.

This book is full of magic. It reminded me of fairy tales, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings. It has a good story, a good romance, and a good ending. I really enjoyed it
