A “modern” version of the Persephone and Hades love story. Very cute, easy to read graphic novel. Trigger warning: SA scene

As a lover of friends and a healthcare provider who worked in *basically* a detox unit for over a year, I was very interested in and excited to read this story. I did enjoy the friends insights, all though there was very few and I enjoyed the patients perspective on addiction, but this book wasn‘t it for me. Perry had a very narcissistic view on his life, feeling as if he was owed something and never took any responsibility.

Shizuka Satomi, the queen of hell, sold her soul and has to deliver 7 phenomenal violin players and only needs one more. Katrina is a transgender runaway with a raw (but untrained) talent. Lan is a space captain running a donut shop, and falls for Shizuka. I loved the conversations regarding queerness (sapphic and transgender), but the plot jumped around and at times was hard to follow I thought.

Grace Perry discusses how many iconic 2000s pop culture tv shows/ music/ movies/ etc impacted and influenced her coming out and queerness (Taylor swift, glee, Disney movies, Harry Potter and more). Sometimes this book was a little too relatable and triggered things in me I had not thought of ever or in a long time. Enjoyable essays though that encapsulated the 2000s and (At least my) queerness.

This graphic novel follows Jake through applying to colleges, falling in love and coming out, and having superpowers!!! Phenomenal story!

This story follows Wren, a recent film studies graduate, manager of a failing movie drive in, and has never been kissed. Enter previous love interest, Derick, new social media manager for aforementioned drive in. Cute gay rom com, some topics (family acceptance namely) was not handled the best IMO, but had many cute moments and an exciting ending.

A thriller mystery written in emails, messaging conversations, and documents. This thriller follows a small UK theatre group through a cancer diagnosis, charitable fraud, and a death. The reader is given access to these documents through the eyes of two law students. An interesting twist on thrillers.

I love iliza‘s podcast and her standup shows. I have seen her twice in person. I thought this book was true to Iliza‘s brand. I thought some tales were hilarious and relatable, and some missed the mark (for me). I highly recommend the audiobook (read by her) to enjoy the experience.

Marissa and Matthew bishop appear to have the perfect life, until Marissa has an affair. Together, they go to recently unlicensed therapist, Avery. This thriller was so entertaining I was captivated through every twist and turn

I was so excited to read this book because I enjoyed her other book, southern lady code. The first half of this book read similar to the southern lady code, but the second half was not as enjoyable for me. Short stories were introduced seemingly from her POV, but it made wasn‘t clear they weren‘t her stories. Murder stories, ghost stories, very judgmental stories played out from her POV. I was disappointed by this book.

I am a sucker for a queer fairy tale retelling! Zinnia has a rare genetic condition that will likely kill her by her 21st birthday. On her 21st birthday she pricks her finger on an antique spinning wheel and can see hundreds of retelling a of sleeping beauty, one calls to her and she enters her multiverse. Determined to help the princess break her spell, Zinnia goes to the evil fairy that cursed her. Occasionally immaturely written, but I loved it

Wild man, Tobias, has lived and been apart of the woods for the last 400+ years. Enter Henry Silver as the new owner of the Greenshollow Hall, an amateur folklorist. A small budding romance occurs until the past returns. Presents magical and LGBTQ themes. Downsides were there were no chapters and a little hard to follow at times with all the intertwined magic, but a very entertaining read.

Read as a memoir/ short story mix, this book was a very enjoyable read! Discussing common southern stereotypes from a woman who grew up in Alabama, now a middle aged woman in New York. As someone who lived in Arkansas for a stint in my life, I related to her stories and found this book humorous and interesting

A short story about a woman made of stone and her husband, the sculptor. Since her beauty is too great, her husband locks her away and visits her regularly for intercourse, so no one else can see or touch her. This book, while short and quick, discusses misogyny, and the priority men‘s desires have over women.

Graphic novel discussing this woman‘s upbringing and story in similarities to her father. Alison‘s father ran a funeral home, which the deemed the “fun home”. This story discusses Alison‘s journey to discovering she is a lesbian, and the moments following her discovery and learning about homosexuality, primarily through reading. She discusses her fathers homosexuality as well, comparing the two of them and discussing their relationship

Literally my new favorite queer romance book. It had fake dating, it had the one bed trope, it had everything I‘ve ever wanted in a WLW romance book. I want to read it 10 times

As someone newer to the thriller genre, I enjoyed this book. Not too many jump scares, and plenty of plot twists to stay entertained

My partner picked this book out for me thinking I would like it, and I did end up liking it! I enjoyed the discussion on to have children or not, and even if you give your partner everything they want (or say they want) things will all workout how they are supposed to.

I read this book several times when I was younger (10+ years ago), and it was very impactful and interesting. I read this book now, and it still is very impactful and interesting.

10 year old Annemarie has to face brave decisions to help her Jewish friend Ellen escape during the 1940 occupation of Nazi Denmark.

This was the heaviest heartstopper book thus far. Very heavy conversations were talked about, and for longer than previous volumes. Still cute gay romance involved.

Mindy is so relatable, hilarious and adorable. This memoir felt like an inside into Mindy‘s thoughts.

This series is so addicting and adorable. This volume (I think) had more discussions on mental health, the toll of coming out, and some discussions of family. So in love with this series and I never want it to end

The second volume of the Heartstopper series and wow I‘m in love. I enjoyed the first one, but I enjoyed this one even more. This one was so full of love and warmth. I am wicked excited for the Netflix show to come out!! Highly recommend for a quick, queer love story.

A spicy Indian rom com. Enemies to lovers. A really fun read

I saw this book so much on booktok I had to buy it. It had fun and surprising twists and turns with some predictability. Some romance dabbled in for more fun.

I read this book in less than a day because I literally couldn‘t put it down. In a small wintery town, a meme goes around asking people to share their biggest fear of dying (drowning, getting stabbed, etc). Soon after, people in this small town start dying by way of their biggest fear. High school senior, who somehow gets wrapped up in these murders sets out to find the murderer. Will she be successful? Or will her biggest fear become a reality?

A book of poems discussing both the hardships the author has faced as a black woman as well as (some of the hardships) black women as a group have had to endure. So many trigger warnings. So gut wrenching. A quick, yet powerful read

A modern day retelling of Peter Pan in which Tinker Bell falls in love with both Peter and Wendy. I thought this was a fun, yet dark retelling of Peter Pan, but it had way too much hype of being a queer love story. There are a few mentions of Tinks longing for Wendy, but it wasn‘t a gay (or bi) romance story as much as I had hoped.

A story of high school senior, Liz, trying to become prom queen for a scholarship to go to her dream school. I loved the queer representation in this book, however I think it was immature and I found myself a little annoyed at times. I felt too old for this book.

Wow this book was so interesting. Twins born in the 1950s as black, but potentially white passing in a small town in Louisiana. Both sisters run away at 16, one to return after an abusive partner, one to identify as white and create a whole new life. Their lives eventually intertwine many years later. Their stories are told so truthfully and this book was so captivating.

What if the popular villains turned good? What if they ran a school for all creatures who were found doing crimes? Will they actually become hero‘s? Or will they stay villains?

I saw this book so much on booktok I knew I had to read it, and I‘m so glad I did. It was SO great to read a queer romance novel that wasn‘t focused on or involving one of the characters coming out. A super cute, fun read. A feel good book for sure. Very excited for the sequel

My first book of 2022. I did not know this book was a graphic novel when I purchased it (lol), but for my first graphic novel and my first book of 2022, it was a phenomenal start. A book that every middle schooler and high schooler should read. I am looking forward to the next three and the Netflix show to follow.

Including Audrey Hepburn, her dead absent father, her best friend who hasn‘t been as present lately, her favorite college professor, and that one recurrent boyfriend that she can not seem to shake. An interesting, entertaining read

I literally can not say enough good things about or recommend this book enough. A psycho thriller in which a woman, Alicia, shoots her husband after ~6 years of marriage, and then goes silent for ~6 years following. Enter psychotherapist, Theo, to try to uncover why she went silent and try to get her to talk again. Twists and turns and many psychology components, absolutely a must read.

Really great discussion pieces- plus size lgbtq+ representation, first loves, first jobs. Cute, quick, easy read, however a little immature at times.

An amazing pick during black history month and (almost) to kick off women‘s history month. This memoir was incredibly eye opening, raw, and well written. An insight into intersectional feminism, and how to be a better, more badass woman.

This book was everything I could want in a book. D‘Vaughn and Kris, both black lesbians signed up for a reality tv show in which they are partnered up and told to convince their family they will be getting married in six weeks. Slight hiccups here and there, not to mention that D‘Vaughn still has not come out to her family. Will they make it to the alter? A true feel good book. I can not wait to reread it ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Even though he is engaged, David, while his fiancée is away on a trip meets a bartender, Giovanni, and continues their affair in Giovannis room until his fiancée returns. This book deals heavily with the mental struggle of accepting yourself as queer, especially at a time when gender roles were so heavily enforced.
