This is a NF that was awarded a charlotte zolotow award in 2012 and I would use this book in a literature circle to present themes within the book https://www.suzyred.com/pbks2012_Me_Jane.html. An ESOL strategy that I would use would be 45 and UDL 2.1 #ucflae3414f17

ChelseaPerez This is a great way to maybe incorporate a lesson on the real Jane Goodall ! So great! Especially for young girls ! In my Elementary science course I‘ve learned that usually students do not see females as scientists. So to show that there was a strong female scientist is a great inspiration for them. 6y
hannahl I have never read this book before but I really enjoyed the lesson you connected for the students! I think this would be a great book for the students to connect too since Jane is a familiar character to them in Tarzan the movie. 6y
kenyanellie This would be a great book to integrate ELA and Science! The lesson you chose is really great 6y

This book is a SF book that was awarded the orbis pictus award in 2007 and the strategy that I would use this with would be PR. I would have this book partner read because it it such a dense book with a lot of information. This is about a team that ventured high into the mountains of the cloud forest of the tree climbing mammal's habitat to learn as much as possible.

MichelleL The author's, photographer's and scientists' passion about their expedition and the tree kangaroo is everywhere evident and contagious. The UDL would be 6.1 and the ESOL would be 20 #ucflae3414f17 6y

This picture book is fiction and was awarded in 2007 for ny times best seller and I would use the teaching strategy RA for this. I would use RA because this book is a short read and can hit on a lot of new vocabulary words with the students. This is by Mo Williams as well as the illustrations. The website that I would use for a lesson plan would be http://mrswillskindergarten.com/knuffle-bunny-lesson-plans/ which will help the children with their

This is a an F picture book by Eric Litwin that was awarded the Geisel award in 2013 and I would use this book with the teaching strategies of CR. I think that really entertaining books like these can be repeated to the class more than once and having the, say it out loud with the teacher will help the readers with their fluency. This book is about a cat losing his buttons one at a time. I would use the ESOL 18 to get the children physically

MichelleL Involved with the activity ensuring engagement and fun. The activities that I would use would be great for math concepts http://frogsandsnailsandpuppydogtail.com/pete-the-cat-and-his-four-groovy-button... the UDL would be 5.1 #ucflae3414f17 (edited) 6y
ChelseaPerez This is such a great storytelling book you could dress up like Pete the cat and where the buttons and visually show them falling out. It is great for all children to see the dramatic representation especially students that are ESOL as well. 6y

This picture book is F that won an Geisel award in 2009 and the teaching strategies that I would use with this book would be a RA and a S. I would do those strategies because this book is very short, the pictures are beautiful, I know that the students would love it. This book is about Gerald the elephant and his best friend piggie are going
to play outside. It starts to rain and piggie is upset then they realize that they can also play

MichelleL In the rain. Gerald is the greatest friend for coming up a solution to having fun while it's still raining. A great website for this is http://study.com/academy/lesson/are-you-ready-to-play-outside-lesson-plan.html. This is a great book that helps beginning readers and the website and activities complies to the Florida standards ESOL 15 and UDL 3.1 by asking them what do they know what it starts to rain and what do they do on a rainy day. (edited) 6y
cheyennewilliams While I have not yet read this particular story, I love this series! Elephant and Piggie books make for great RA for younger students and GR & IR for beginning readers. My favorite book in the series is My Friend is Sad. (edited) 6y

This is Not My Hat | Jon Klassen
post image
Pickpick

This is not my hat is by Jon Klassen is a children's literature book and F. This book is really cute especially to use with little ones. It is about a small fish taking a big fishes hat and the small fish thinking the big fish won't find out, but he does and gets eaten. Very funny and an engaging book. A lesson plan that would go good with this could be a math problem, the size of the big fish and the small fish and compare and contrast

MichelleL Contrast them to everyday items in the household an ESOL strategy would be 44 and the UDL would be 2.3 http://www.teachingideas.co.uk/library/books/this-is-not-my-hat #ucflae3414f17 (edited) 6y

This is a TL novel that could be used in the classroom with the IR and LC teaching strategies winning the SSYRA award in 2017/2018. This book would be great for independent reading to definitely let the child get lost in this high fantasy book. This book is about a town full of people beleiveing that if they don't sacrifice a baby each year that the witch In the forest will get highly upset and eat them which comes out not to be the case.

MichelleL Which is not the case. Xan is a good witch who helps all of the people that come across her. This book is a book about hope and not believing everything you hear. I would use this with a lesson about hope and not being a following sheep but instead the Shepard. I would use this book in a LC and the lesson plan to expand the children's vocabulary and teach them how to use graphic organizers (edited) 6y
MichelleL A UDL that I would use 8.3 providing multiple means of engagement and for ESOL I would use 29 (edited) 6y

This novel is a RF by R.J Palladio, it's won the Mark Twain in 2015 and the Main Student award in 2014 and this book I would use in my future classroom as a LC and RA teaching strategies. This is a heart warming book about a little boy who is a little different. August "Auggie" Pullman has a rare facial deformity and he overhears his friend say that he would kill himself if he looked like auggie. Auggie being hurt wants to quit school.

MichelleL Yet he doesn't. Throughout the school year he is bullied by other fifth graders. They all go on a field trip and Jillians friends have help him and jack out from being bullied by seventh graders. After that Auggie is awarded the "Henry Ward Beecher Medal" which honors students who have been exemplary in areas throughout the school year. He gets the right kind of attention and accept Ana every that Auggie deserves. This is a link that will help the 6y
MichelleL children visualize the story more and their is also a cultivating activity at the end that gets the children thinking of the plot and what were some of the quotes forewarning mrwreads.blogspot.com/2013/09/wonder-percepts-quotes.html This activity would go hand in hand with the ESOL 17 providing contextual support and an UDL would be 4.2 because we accessing assistive technology #ucflae3414f17 (edited) 6y

The one and only Ivan is a F novel written by Katherine Applegate winning the Newberry award in 2016, this could be a great CR/RA/PR book in the classroom.
