I enjoyed reading this book, set in the UK after WWI. The main character was a strong female, most of the time.

A really interesting book; I feel like I peeked inside a culture that I know little about. I went back and forth between rooting for the main character, and wanting to tell her to get her act together. Btw my annoyance was at her behavior, not choice of food. Regardless, this is well worth a read
A fascinating peek into the mind of a brilliant writer, set amid Europe's political turmoil in the decade prior to WWII.
My all-time favorite Dickens novel. I could reread it every 5 years to relive all the scenes that imprinted themselves in my heart when I first read it as a schoolgirl in Ireland.
I read this YAbook every year with my 8th graders, as part of our Dystopian societies unit. They and I absolutely relish every chapter, and beg for a sequel. Alas, Mr Nelson, never did write book 2 to this book, which was published in 1970. If you like The Hunger Games, you'll like this one as well.
This book is hauntingly beautiful. Character development is immense from start to finish. I will likely reread it every 5 years.
As a life long fan of Maeve Binchy, I heartedly recommend this book to anyone interested in a modern day realistic love story. Def give this one a look,if you need to feel good about people coming together to help one another.
I thoroughly recommend this book to readers of all ages. You will come away with a feeling that "all is right with the world."
For Maeve Binchy fans, this is a treasure because it was the last novel before her death. A tale of fatherhood in modern times: you'll laugh and cry, all in the same page. Don't pass this one up.
This is a deceptively powerful book; stayed with me long after the last page. Well-worth a weekend of reading pleasure.
A fascinating look inside the mind and daily life if one if France's great female writers. Poetic, emotional, honest, exhilarating, and if course, occasionally heart-wrenching.
Absolutely brilliant psychological thriller. Well-worth reading. Will keep you on the edge of every page, as you try to anticipate what's next.
One of the books I treasure most in my library; my go-to for inspiration, perspective, relaxation, and daily dose of nature.
Entertainment ala modern day Sherlock Holmes type of tale.
A wonderful book about the Bronte family; their brilliant minds, their tragic lives, and everything we can learn from their lives. Excellent book.
Terrific collection of modern short stories, all set in New England. Characters that you both love and hate, and who remind you of somebody you already know. A real gem.
Great book for anyone who truly values books. Written a series of letters between a bookseller in England, and a reader in NYC. Heart-warming.
Terrific quick-read. Gives the reader a virtual holiday in France, plus many books to add to the TBR stack for summer reading pleasure.
