This RF picture book by Kevin Henkes is great for early readers. The story goes over numbers, directions and other adjectives as the elephants march. Looking for Alaska is a RF novel by John Green, and is also the winner of the Michael Printz award. This novel would be great in a high school classroom for IR or LC. The book focuses on a boy going to a boarding school. He meets Alaska and is immediately pulled into trouble. He begins to fall for her as he learns more about her questionable past. #ucflae3414su19

Kcompton2912 I absolutely love this series and try to find all the books the “old lady who...” is in. I never thought of doing a sequencing activity to go along with it and it‘s honestly genius! The students can learn the concept while also tying it into literature! 5y

Recipient of the Coretta Scott Kind award, Martins Big Words, is a B. Written by Doreen Rappaport and Illustrated by Bryan Collier, the book discusses some of the important things that took place during his life up to his death. A wonderfully illustrated picture book with plenty of facts about MLK‘s early life and to his passing with quotations taken from different parts of his life. Great for RT! #ucflae3414

Creepy Carrots!: with audio recording | Aaron Reynolds

This MF Caldecott Award winner, written by Aaron Reynolds, was a great easy-read. The story follows Jasper rabbit, who loves the carrots in Crackenhopper field. That is until they hatch a plan of their own. In the end, Jasper builds a fence keeping the carrots in and him out. This book would be great for a read aloud.

A Good Night For Ghosts, in this MF readers follow siblings, Jack and Annie, in another adventure of the Magic Treehouse series. In this story, the treehouse transports Jack and Annie back in time to New Orleans. Their mission, find Louis Armstrong and make him play music. Through persistence, hard work and quite a scare with a pirate ghost, the kids complete their mission. This book would be good for LC and IR.
