The couple next door was an excellent suspenseful book. I literally had to set my book down every few pages because I couldn't believe what was happening. A definite pick

Obviously they didn't have Litsy 😉 This book was great! Not usually into the utopia sci-fi but this kept me interested and now makes me feel weird posting anything to social media. The character Mae was super annoying and self-centered but that's the problem with society and it's fitting to the story. It's engaging all the way till the end! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️#481pages #morethan400pages #litsyreadingchallenge

Talk about a page turner! This book had me engaged the whole time. Didn't like Kyung at all but that's okay, it went with the story 😊great quick read ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 #judgebythecover #litsyreadingchallenge

It was really difficult to rate this book. I must say I wasn't in love with style but the story itself was powerful. Celie is heroic as she finds redemption through god and friendship to overcome years of abuse. This story sheds light on on many taboos that are and have been brushed under the rug from sexual and physical abuse, to genital mutilation and other underlying misogynistic and racist issues. #litsyreadingchallenge

Overall I really enjoyed all the insight that Evie has and her ability to see the boxes that girls/women put themselves in (usually) in order to achieve some approval. I didn't like the time jumps, I thought it was unnecessary. #litsyreadingchallenge

Loved learning more a bout the Gaines family. They are quite the treasure. I love their faithfulness to trust in what they believe is "right" for their family, business, and town.

I must say I am a sucker for all ww2 novels. I felt that the characters were very realistic. Both main characters were stuck in difficult situations and did what they could to survive. That last chapter really got me 😭I would recommend the read 4/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Enjoyed reading this on my weekend getaway. It's been a good read so far, not the best occupied France WW2 novel but still enjoyable :)

Sdunbar I must say it definitely picked up and turned into something amazing! I would love to see this as a movie 7y

It's worth the read, can't say it is my favorite but I do appreciate its importance in American culture. As for reading a book just for pleasure, I'd say that it took a really long time to (over half the book) to even get into and would have bailed had I not been to finally read this classic. I loved Atticus, he is a great wise character. We need more people like Atticus in the world :)

Continuing my HP nerd out 🤓

Books4brittany Is it the script of the movie? 8y
Sdunbar @Books4brittany no, it's just a textbook. It's very small, you learn about the different magical creatures 8y
Sdunbar @Books4brittany JK is going to sell the screenplay for that movie too. I believe it will come out the day the movie is released 8y
Books4brittany Oh I thought it was already out. Hm. I think I'll skip it and just watch the movie 😁 8y
Sdunbar @Books4brittany ya I definitely will want to watch the movie. I did just reserve it through the library though, just in case and I will be number 6 :) 8y

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I really enjoyed being back in the wizarding world. I must admit that this was difficult in the beginning to read just because it is a screenplay. Once I got over that, the story was really great, Rowling has everything thought out well. Since it is a screenplay it lacked all of the background info we have learned to love but it will definitely make for a great play. I would love to see this!

Loved this book! It was scientifically poetic. I enjoyed the style Doerr used to develop the characters and how even though one was a French blind girl the other a German boy that became apart of Hitler Youth they were described with the same empathy.

So incredibly good. I was nearly instantly captivated by its characters. Hosseini wrote his female characters perfectly. If you are even considering reading this book in the slightest, go ahead and take the plunge, it's very much worth it.

Sdunbar @Books4brittany it's so good, I really enjoy learning about the culture and history. My book starts in the 60's and goes through the 80's, so much change happened those years 8y

Girl on the Train | Paula Hawkins
Mehso-so

I read reviews that if you liked Gone Girl you would like Girl on the Train, I did not find this to be true. This book lacked the suspense to even want to continue reading. Though the plot twist was interesting Paula didnt fully delve into the details which I find necessary for a drawn out buildup.
