pickI am in tears. I reread the book a few days ago, and yet the graphic novel hits harder. It very emotional for me to see one of my favourite books come to life in such a unique way. This is why I love graphic novels. It isn‘t nearly as long as the book, but the impact which it had over me was through the roof. @Reyzl if you haven‘t already read this, please do.

pickThis book is a powerful and moving story of friendship between two 12 yr old boys, Amir and Hassan, the betrayal and guilt in that friendship and finally redemption. But more than that , it is an ode to the Afghan way of life, which is gone and nobody knows if it will ever come back. With Taliban back in power in Afghanistan, this book shows us the pain that it's people are going through.
pickI can't believe it took me so long to read this! I read a Thousand Splendid Suns years ago and I always planned to read this one as well, but I never seemed to get around to it. I was a bit worried that after all the buildup I wouldn't enjoy it, but it was so good!
I‘m starting this journey today. I‘ve put it off for way too long.
pickThe Kite Runner is the story of Amir, a Sunni Muslim, from Afghanistan. Amir was an only child after his mother died during labor and was raised by his father, who he calls Baba. He also lives with Ali and Hassan, the servants, the a Shi‘a Muslim (a minority that isn‘t treated well). Hassan is Amir‘s age and they were very close friends for most of their childhood.

pickI can‘t believe I waited that long to read this. I‘d love to have seen my facial expressions while reading this. I feel like I was either smiling freely ear to ear, or holding back ugly cries. Some parts were so heart- breaking that I wanted to stop reading. This book, I will not soon shake. I look forward to more books by this author.
Finally reading this book!! I‘m 100 pages from the end and I‘m a wreck of emotion. Alllllllllll the feels.

It took three attempts for me to read this book as I couldn't get past one of the more harrowing scenes. Ultimately I'm glad I powered through, it is definitely a book that will stay with me.
An obvious choice, but I have only just discovered that there is a graphic novel version and now I‘m curious.

This adaptation is elegantly done. The words and images may not be able to fully interpret the heartbreaking story but the artwork portrays the emotions well enough. A beautiful story and I‘m glad this adaptation introduces the story to a new generation of readers and wider audience.

I've started reading this on Monday and I must say that I'm quite enjoying it even if some parts can be shocking. I think I'll finish it rather quickly, but then, who knows?
pickHaving recently read the novel for the first time, I couldn't pass up the chance to read the graphic novel too.
Even knowing the story, I was still wrapped up in the beauty of Khaled Hosseini's writing, and the artwork just made the story come alive so much more.
I'm not always a fan of graphic novel adaptations of books I love, but this one is very well done.

pickI had heard about this book for years but avoided it because I knew something horrible happens in it...and the suffering is worse than I imagined. I learned so much about why people choose to stay in a war torn country because it is their home. Customs, prejudice and judgements caused people to lie and hurt the people they love the most.

This book is worth WAY more than that.
While I had heard of Kite Runner before, I was always a bit hesitant to read it, but by the end, I went on an emotional roller coaster where I found myself loving this character‘s so realistic journey through life.

A book I wish my son would read when he is in his teens.. would be a different perspective for him growing up in New Zealand .. life seems so sheltered living in this corner of the world .. wouldn‘t want him take that for granted ..Reading about lives in Afghanistan have made me reflect how lucky am I ? A real eye opener

pickHonestly it gives you MANY mixed emotions but it‘s a wonderful book and I would recommend it too any one (even those without a soul) I also plan on reading more of Khaled‘s books so wish me luck cause I might drown in a river of tears... again
