How are all of you? I'm hoping you all have been well. I'm sorry for the lack of chatting or interaction on the site but university life and the part-time job has been draining my spirits. I'm currently trying to figure out my final project for feminism. My overarching subject is how patriarchy influenced fiction. I was either thinking of a youtube series, a website blog, or a podcast. Is there one that sounds more interesting?

Every chapter finished with a sentence that would then repeat itself next chapter. I found it aggravating, possibly because they are shorter chapters. It's a very straightforward way of writing and it reminded me of YA mystery writing. If you are like me and have a hard time digesting that style. You won't be able to read this. Plot-wise, it could have been more mythologies related since it's a selling point. Lackluster reveal and ending.

I've heard people talk about Alex Michaelides for ages now. As someone that devours any good thriller, I had to try him out, and sadly I was terribly disappointed.
My biggest problem with this book was the disconnect I had with the writing. Every chapter finished with a sentence that would then repeat itself next chapter. I found it aggravating, possibly because they are shorter chapters. (1)

This book is an easy read. It's quite short so I read it in one sitting. I found that there wasn't much plot which might be because of how short the book is. I also found it problematic that the author decides to make the main character fall in love with their ex-bully. Because that's totally not toxic behavior. Especially when the excuse is I was in denial of my feelings for you! Yeah, it's not a valid excuse.

This story has a great concept. It follows a henchman trying to find work in the villain industry and after an accident quickly get passionate about the business. I loved the fact that the author know's how to critic the 'good ' and the 'bad' side. Which makes it that you don't 100% know who you are cheering on .I adore our main character. She's has a way of thought that anyone can relate to. She also has a way of work that I found humorous.

Even though this book isn't a favorite of mine. I did enjoy the interconnection between characters and the writing style. I've read some reviews that state that this book isn't the best one so I will most likely still read the other works of Taylor Jenkin Reids. (3)

The time-skip was well done and gave an insight into the broken family.

Even though I enjoyed this book. I have to admit the whole plot was predictable. Every character's growth is obvious pretty obvious from the get-go. Since the first chapter tells you the ending their isn't much anticipation. I also found the book pretty similar to We Were Liars who also share the same rating. (part 2)

This was my first Taylor Jenkins Reid novel and I have mixed feelings about the whole thing.

The coolest aspect of this book is the interconnection of every character in the story. Whether it's singers, tennis players, or local restaurant workers. It really helped to demonstrate the different characters you can find in modern-day Malibu. I also really enjoyed the character growth in the Riva's. (part 1 )

I liked many things about this book. The magic concept, the sacrifices, the world-building, and the queer representation were great. But you are introduced to them so quickly that they constantly confuse you. I was uncertain about the plot-line until three quarters in. Overall great concept, I would pick up the sequel but the introduction to this universe is extremely confusing. Thank you, NetGalley, Sourcebooks Fire,and Linsey Miller for the arc.

Magic, cute romances, and wonderful queer characters! Is there really anything else that might want? This story was absolutely charming and adorable. I fell in love with every single individual in the story. But, I do have to admit that I understood fewer references than in Red, White, and Royal Blue. Which affected my understanding of some of the jokes. Overall it's another great book from Casey McQuiston

This story is cute but I wanted to be able to laugh in this story. There wasn't anything comedic, Overall, this is a cute story but I wanted more comedic moments and a better description of the settings. (2)

The Charm Offensive is a charming story that denounces the toxicity of reality television. It also does a wonderful job at depicting mental health and its struggles. The blossoming relationship was adorable but their story was very predictable. During the story, the characters go to different countries and I felt like those weren't well detailed. It was hard to visualize at times. I would have loved more information on the multiples settings. (1)

Charming, hilarious, and super relatable. I had such a blast while reading this. I loved the description of mental health in this story. The way Gilda suffers from her anxiety is something that most people can relate to. I loved her inside monologues! I definitely have analyzed of few of them myself. The only flaw I found in this book is that it's very character-driven with a few minor plotlines. I would compare it to a slice-of-life-style story.

Ivan was extremely flawed and his overall attitude was frustrating for most of the book. The fact that both characters fall in love with each other after three days also bugged me a lot. Love at first sight soulmate or not isn't my preferred romance trope. I was expecting a slower pace for the romance, especially since they are enemies. Overall, this had a good concept but I was disappointed with the final result. (Part two)

Saving Seymour was one of the books that I was super excited to start reading. The cover was charming and the premise intriguing. But I found myself picking the short end of the stick. The world-building was not my issue with this story. I found the premise of everything being colorless was unique. The discrimination of colored vision was realistic of discrimination that we find in our society. (Part 1)

Once again V.E Schwab demonstrates that GOOD AND EVIL is all in the individual perspective. There is action, multiples perspectives, two awesome new females characters, and our favorite villains. But I felt that the EON was too flawed. It was so easy to infiltrate and that killed some of the suspense for me. I couldn't love this book as much as the first is because of the lack of Eli vs Victor dynamic. But overall this book is a wonderful sequel.

When I picked this up I wasn't expecting myself to like it. But I knew I was going to regret it if I didn't read it due to the multiple Tiktoks that seem to preach it. So I took the free kindle unlimited trial and got this book for free. But, all this book did to me was confirming that I know my reading style and what I enjoy. 😅 I wasn't interested in the romance and my favorite character was the wolf that had no dialogue.

This book is a cold glass of lemonade on a hot summer day. It is so refreshing to see romance blossom between two women! The slowly built relationship between the two is predictable but it's so sweet and adorable that you don't mind it. I loved the adventures that they go together. The only thing that bothered me was the need that both protagonists needed a dead mom to be able to relate to each other. But overall this is the perfect summer read.

1) Yes, I have reread books but it isn't a common occurrence. Some that I have reread are Finding Audrey and They Both Die at the End.

3) Sorrowland

I want to start off by saying that I did enjoy this read. I thought the tone kept the suspense and gave a gothic feeling to the setting. The description of the island is bitter-sweet, it is beautiful and disturbing and made me constantly battle with myself whether or not I would have loved the location. I also thought that the protagonist was quite intelligent and wasn't all that naive considering the circumstances. But the plot was predictable.

One of my biggest pet peeves in a thriller is when the twist is a supernatural element. It rubs me the wrong way every single time and that's all I'm going to say.
But, I did really enjoy the fairy tale retellings. I thought they were clever and it kept the story intriguing. In conclusion, I do think this book would be a great read for a lot of people but due to my circumstances and preferences, I couldn't love it.

I had the hardest time getting myself involved with this book. It took me to 55% to start to understand what plot the author was aiming and that was after going back to the synopsis to realize that I needed to look for Marcus. Not only did I struggle with finding the plot but a lot of the commentary that our protagonist gives to every single character of the book is either slut-shaming, sexist, or even racist at times.

This was such an enjoyable read. I found Ari to be an extremely relatable character especially during his younger years in the book. The romance was not only adorable but also seemed quite realistic. It is on the slow-burn side so if that is not your style this might not be for you.

I'm really disappointed that I didn't like this since I was really excited about this arc! I had a few problems with the plot reveals since out of the three grand reveals, I only thought one of them was satisfactory. I also had a problem with some of the behaviors and mentality of the characters which some include 'boys will be boys'.

The Plot is an intriguing and suspenseful story about a stolen story with a realistic approach to the struggle of making it big in the writing world. I ate this story up! There is just something so fun about a plot that discusses another plot. It's a two-and-one deal that did not fail. I did realize the last twist pretty early on but it didn't destroy my reading experience. This book will most definitely be on my top ten favorite thillers of 2021.

Having more plus-size women in fiction is an aspect that should have happened ages ago. The writing industry still lacks body shape diversity and seeing a plus-size protagonist was refreshing. This is why it shame's me that I couldn't get into this story. I found that the plot was too fast-paced, which neglected time for the romance in the story to blossom.

Wow, I was intrigued the whole time and I kept changing my hypothesis every chapter. I had absolutely no idea what the ending was going to be and I was not disappointed with the result. The suspense, the character dynamic especially with Harper and Ruby, and the plot twists were all fantastic! I don't have a lot of critiques other than the map should be in a bigger format, and a character sheet would be appreciated.

The representation of LGBTQ+ citizens in this series is beautiful and much needed. All the characters represent a significant moment for a member LGBTQ+ whether is coming out or homophobic peers. The artwork is also stunning. My only complaint would be that the plot is quite fast-paced.

This story was intriguing and very family orientated, it demonstrates the importance of family but most importantly the growing love between a step-mother and her newly acquired daughter. I had a wonderful time reading this story and I will be looking out for more of Laura Dave's works in the future.

Once again, I am mesmerized by Leigh Bardugo's world-building and plot. I did have an easier time understanding Mal behavior this time but it did still frustrate me. I did really enjoy the new characters that were added especially Nikolai that made me laugh multiple times during my reading. I did also enjoy that Alina seemed to embrace her power more.

I really enjoyed this read. The plot had a lot of suspense and the multiples perspectives kept me on my toes. I also loved the representation of queer romances. This is not a story I could ever reread since there isn't anything that could change my vision of the story or be new the second time around, But this is the perfect novel to read if you want to have a quick thrill but still be able to sleep at night.

The artwork is really beautiful.

This is possible because as much as I suffered from solitude a few times in my life, I now live with the constant company of my eight family members which makes it hard to feel lonely. I have also never grieved in the way our protagonist does but that's because I have never lost someone that I cherished. Maybe this book was just something that I needed to read later in my life when I have felt lost and live in solitude.

Hold Still was one of the first books, where after I read the author's note and closed the book, I cried. I was tearful for at least ten minutes and had the hardest time composing myself. I started We Are Okay with the mindset that it be a sad read and it was, just not relatable enough to me for me to make a strong emotional bond with the characters. (Part 1)

Has a Canadian, where hockey's our cult, I saw myself laughing at every single one of the hockey references. I've spent my childhood at the arena and it was so fun to see that in a story. The romance was adorable but, my favorite parts were the explanation of hockey terminology because they are 100% true!

I am mesmerized by how easily Leigh Bardugo seems to be able to emerge, readers into her universe. I do admit that as much as I was fully engaged in the plot, I was uncomfortable with both of the love interests and dislike both relationship dynamics. They both felt quite controlling and toxic, most of the time. Has much as I disliked the characters' attitudes, I loved the plot and Leigh Bardugo's writing.

I have never read anything like this. It's critical yet lyrical of society and the lack of changes we have done to our life-style. Vern's story is not only an action pact adventure but one of a character that has been wronged by society. Facing sexism, racism, homophobia, and more this protagonist, faced social issues after social issues that society burdened her with (which you will most likely see yourself in).

I wish I had a physical copy of the book so I could annotate it because some of the sentences are blunt but poetic at the same time?..

I absolutely adored this! Cruella is one of my all-time favorites and I'm so glad she got her own origin story. The joys of London are well described and the tone making the reader imagine themself in this lovely city. I especially loved the time period which demonstrates the start of colorful fashion and upbeat music after the war. This story was exactly what I needed it to be. Maureen Johnson clearly knows how to create Disney magic!

Hi! This is going to be a little rant so if not interested you can skip this, I live in Canada, more specifically in Ottawa which is one of the most bilingual cities where I have been trying to find french literature not priced at 40$ the novel. Which is frankly ridiculous! Ottawa has an abundance of french citizens that can even read in their own mother tongue even though it is one of the two officials languages! Arggghh!!!

I was wondering why the names Jasper and Horace were familiar but it's because they are the henchmen! That took some time to make the link.

I got the opportunity to review this and I'm really stocked. Cruella is one of my all-time favorites when it comes to villains and I was planning on seeing the real-life adapted version of this tale. I'm honestly surprised that this is going to be my first book from Maureen Johnson considering, how many of her books are in my TBR.

This book was ambitious. I loved the eerie tone that is used throughout the novel and the sisterly bonds we see with the character's interactions. I do admit that I would have loved a map of the chosen setting since it was composed of many islands and information sheets about all the religions and gods used in the story. I still believe that if you share a soft spot for the tale of the Twelve Dancing Princesses, you should give this a shot.

This is the book that is going to convince you to never take drugs. The usage of the first-person narrative makes you experience Reilly's K hole or black hole experience to the fullest. The fact that the narration is bias due to the drug usage makes you constantly wonder what is real or fake in the plot. This story is extremely vulgar whether it's sexual to violent references or the usage of homophobic terminology.

I hate the use of homophobic language.
