This book would be good for RA or SR. It is about kids whose grandmother is dying and they make a deal to keep death away. But death comes anyway and tells them a story to help them understand death. This is a good book to help kids process and understand loss of life and that death is natural. It is a modern fantasy book. It won a Batchelder award. Resource: https://www.teachingbooks.net/tb.cgi?tid=50684#Resources
I would use UDL guideline 3.2...

annalor Because the main idea of death being natural and okay is the most important part of the book. I would use ESOL strategy 16 because I think multiple ways of processing this book would be beneficial to students. 4y
Zelymarie.R This book is a good resource for dealing with the lost of special person on the students life. Great resources too. I like your summary! Keep doing a great job! 4y
Jennymmm This is and important theme to teach children. 4y

This book would be good for RA. It is about a boy whose friend lost all her things in a fire. He wants to give her a gift. This book can teach kids that authenticity and gestures that come from the heart are priceless. Resource: https://images.randomhouse.com/promo_image/9780375836152_5483.pdf
I would use UDL guideline 2.4 and use lots of gestures and teach vocabulary words so this book would be under stable for all students.

annalor I would use ESOL strategy 15 as the theme of being sincere and of material things not being the only meaningful gifts are important to understand the story. 4y
Brennap Oh wow this story already some so heart warming! I would love to read it and add it to my library. 4y
ShardaeP This sounds like a sweet book that will teach great character skills. 4y
Jennymmm Helping others and having kindness is important, this book seems to teach this. I will definitely add this book to my reading list. 4y

This book would be good for SR. It can help students see the world from a different perspective and gain a better understanding for those who are disabled. The struggles the young MC goes through for acceptance can also be relatable for students. Resource: https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/blog-posts/kriscia-cabral/teaching-out-my-mi...
I would use ESOL strategy 6. I would ask frequent comprehension questions to make sure students understand...

annalor important themes. I would use UDL strategy 6.3. This is a book with which I would provide my students with more information on cerebral palsy and real life examples of people with it. 4y
VictoriaG I read this book and was fully immersed in Melody‘s story! It‘s a great way to teach on people who are different than us but still can accomplish so much and be amazing citizens in society! 4y
LizzettM This book was a great LC read! The ending was hard to handle but it reminded me that not all book end in happy endings😭 I wish they did though! 4y

This book is good for RA. It is about a boy and his grandmother finding beauty in their city. It teaches kids gratitude and can be relatable for many. It is realistic fiction. It won a John Newberry medal. Resource: https://www.rif.org/literacy-central/book/last-stop-market-street
I would use UDL guideline 3.1. Background knowledge such as vocabulary words is important to understand this book.

annalor I would use ESOL strategy 10 as concepts in this book such as politeness and subjective beauty can be better understood in groups. 4y
Kayla_C I love your resource and how it provides us with the award it has won. I have seen many posts on this book so far and I definitely want to read it. 4y

This book is a great one about the progression of life from childhood to old age. It will teach kids about family, history, and aging. It won a Caldecott honor. Resource- https://www.teachingbooks.net/tb.cgi?tid=25358
I would use UDL guideline 3.5 as understanding the relationships and the big idea of time passing is key.
ESOL strategy 5 would be used because there could be some unfamiliar words like “horticulture.”

LizzettM Love the illustration of this book, I need to read it(: 4y
Keishla.O I think the concept of this book is great. Most kids don‘t think about life past lunch time so this is a great book to use to have them think about the whole process of life. Thank you for sharing! 4y
DrSpalding Make sure you use the rubric… For example what genre is this book? Nice concise summary and helpful resource. 4y
