This one was suggested to me by a friend. I‘m intrigued, but also wary. It sounds like a haunting and that‘s definitely not my favorite.

I started a new “break book.” This book suggestion came from a podcast. It‘s very much out of my comfort zone.

This wasn‘t quite what I expected, but in a good way. This is a nice coming of age story that would be great for your teen who is trying to find their niche in life. Everything in it is a little rosy, but that‘s not the worst thing in the world. Check out the full review on Goodreads:

I‘m not great at updating on here. I‘m trying to get better though. I‘m about to start this one. I have never read a Neil Gaiman novel...

I wanted to know the history behind the series and this actually makes me like people in the book. It also makes me want a whole book about Caragh.

This book definitely isn‘t roses and sunshine and rainbows. I liked this one more than I did the first one. I‘m actually invested in finding out what happens in the third one. After the first book I almost said no to this one. They still all need psychological help.

You guys...just...pain. I really enjoyed the book though.

I didn‘t love this, but it was interesting. It would make a decent Lifetime movie too.

This was not one of my favorites. It just rehashed things a bit. I really wanted to understand Ursula and be able to empathize. This didn‘t give enough of the history to make me really feel anything for her.

I didn‘t finish very many in August. With my new job I‘ve been running like mad, but it‘s been worth it!

Maybe I‘m identifying with the teen so much because I get what it‘s like to be constantly asked when I‘m getting married and having kids. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Also, if he‘s marrying for my cooking skills he‘s going to starve. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Liane Moriarty is one of my favorite authors and this didn‘t disappoint. I can‘t imagine waking up and finding ten years has gone by. Would I like the person I was? I think me from ten years ago would think I‘m awesome, but maybe I‘m wrong.

This one was a bit predictable, but I liked it. I don‘t think I will continue the series though.

This book was just a bit much for me. I liked the premise and I the characters. It just went way out there on the wackiness with the talking coyotes and the “Darkness.”

I already love it. Although I would not call Edward “swoony.”

Went to the library and grabbed the second one. I mean after my review of the first one where I decided everyone needed a shrink... 😂 I can‘t remember anything about the first book. I hope I still like Billy by the end!

I‘m not sure why this hit me so hard, but it‘s true. No one has the answers.

I wasn‘t sure I wanted to read this, but I am enjoying it so far.

This is my July wrap up. The Poldark series and Winner‘s trilogy have been my favorites.

I just really fall into these books. I want to spend time with the characters and live in their world. Even for just a bit.

At work I now have an hour lunch. I‘m used to eating in 10 minutes as a teacher. I think I may get a lot of reading done on my lunch breaks though. So appropriate now that I‘m working in a library.

4/5 ⭐️ This is just a guilty pleasure book that makes me happy. It‘s the third in the series and there isn‘t anything spectacular about it. I just love that it takes me somewhere else and into another life.

3/5 ⭐️ I get uncomfortable when talking about medicine so this book probably just wasn‘t for me. It was an interesting look into the life of someone struggling with a serious illness. Seeing their thoughts and reactions to how others treated them was interesting.

4/5 Stars I always feel awkward giving less than all five stars on a book with this kind of history and magnitude. The only reason I couldn‘t give it five was because the flow between point of views was choppy which didn‘t fit with the flow of the book. Otherwise it was well researched and had multiple view points.

I feel like I‘m not making much progress on reading the last few days. Starting work on Monday means things may get even more stagnant if that‘s possible.

I learn something new every time I read a book on this subject. I had no idea that some children were taken from their families and given to German families or that prisoners returned to the Soviet Union might be considered Nazi sympathizers.

This would not be my first choice for historical fiction for this time period. I do think it‘s a simple introduction that isn‘t too graphic for young kids just diving into the subject.

I LOVE Jana DeLeon, but this was not one of her better books. I prefer her “Miss Fortune” series for its quirky characters and the “Shaye Archer” series for its suspense.

I love when books that seem frivolous and are just for my entertainment hit on some serious truth. How many jobs can you think of that get maligned, but the problem isn‘t the person in the job?

I have audiobooks for when I drive, digital books on my phone so I‘m never without a book when I‘m waiting, and I always pack a physical book when I‘m staying somewhere over night. No bag is complete without it.

Listening to this on a long drive. I expected this book to be much more about the relationships with her friends because of the title. That has been present, but very much in the background or interspersed with memories. Hearing her perspective on illness and how others react has made me rethink the way I react to people.

There is nothing better than a good meal and a book. I love going to restaurant at odd times when they are super slow. That lets me take my time and read while I eat.

Does anyone else go in some where for one item and come out with books? In my defense I have two hours to kill before an appointment and then time at my appointment. I mean logically I‘ll need three books for that...right?

I fell in love with the show first, and surprisingly the book followed it well. It deviates only slightly. I love to know what makes characters tick and this book captured their thoughts perfectly.

I was a little apprehensive about the scope of this book. The cover is very misleading because the hunt for the squid is the backdrop, but has very little bearing on events other than putting them in the ocean. I couldn‘t put the book down though and loved the intriguing characters. I will definitely be reading the first one (oops) and the third installment.

That moment when a middle grade book speaks total and deep truth when you least expect it. When you have a passion you no longer “work.”

What you don‘t read about creatures from the deep while you are at the river? ☀️

Found the show. I almost died when I realized it was based on books. So far the show seems to keep close to the book. 🤞🏼 Let‘s see how long that lasts. 😬
